What does a High School Math Teacher do?
High school math teachers provide instruction in math subjects at the high school level. They create and implement lesson plans, teach concepts and practices, and evaluate progress. Working collaboratively with other teachers and administrators, they ensure the material will satisfy any necessary criteria to meet graduation requirements or other mandates. They formulate creative strategies to motivate students and generate excitement about learning. They may also have a role in selecting or modifying the curriculum.
High school math teachers typically have at least a bachelor’s degree, although an advanced degree is an advantage. They must have a valid teaching license or certification as required by their state, and pass all necessary clearances. They must have in-depth expertise in their particular areas of concentration. These roles require a passion for supporting students and encouraging them to reach their full potential.
