What does a National Account Executive do?
National account executives are responsible for a wide range of duties related to the development, servicing, and growth of national sales accounts. They nurture existing relationships and generate leads to establish connections with high-value stakeholders and influencers. Often working closely with other sales and marketing teams, they develop strategies for increasing sales from current accounts while also expanding the client base. They prepare proposals, client presentations, and other sales materials. They are often expected to meet established sales quotes or growth benchmarks.
National account executives typically have at least a bachelor’s degree, although an advanced degree such as an MBA is an advantage. They have a strong sales background, ideally including roles handling national accounts. These roles require strong project managers with excellent client relations skills.
