What does a Resident Manager do?
Resident managers are assistants or general managers who reside at a hotel or rental property and oversee its maintenance and budget, train employees, and assist and address issues that arrive at the site. They help new tenants while moving in, resolve tenant disputes, enforce relevant building rules, and collect rents to deliver to management. Resident managers are often on call for emergencies and need experience with building maintenance, utilities, and landscaping.
Resident managers show vacant units to prospective residents and ensure new residents understand the terms when signing a lease agreement. They resolve tenant disputes, including noise complaints and relevant concerns to all parties’ satisfaction and perform light maintenance and landscaping. They connect with vendors and repair subcontractors including a plumber or electrician when necessary. Resident managers need a high-school diploma or GED certificate and experience with building maintenance and management.
