What does a Supply Chain Analyst do?

A Supply Chain Analyst has an important role in the planning and carrying out of large-scale projects. A Supply Chain Analyst collects data and then analyzes in order to make improvements to the supply chain system. They work to promote top-notch performance from workers and lower the costs of items used in projects.

A Supply Chain Analyst serves as the contact point for many large purchases made from outside of the company for projects. They research fair prices and negotiate with company representatives to ensure the parent company is receiving the best possible price for good solid. Additionally, they are aware of the stock on hand and actively monitor what is being used to support other team members by making sure they have the tools they require.

What are the typical qualifications for Supply Chain Analyst jobs?
  • Experience analyzing and improving supply chain data, information and processes
  • Supply Chain Management certification is not necessary though strongly preferred
  • High-level understanding of all aspects of supply chain processes
  • Previous experience with supply chain processes strongly preferred
  • Experience working in and maintaining databases using Microsoft Excel and others relevant to company processes
  • Professional communication skills are essential when conversing and negotiating with vendors
  • Exceptional ability to conceptualize large-picture projects and foresee challenge and needs to be addressed
  • Ability to research companies and determine the best vendors to reach out to for various projects
  • Experience working to improve all aspects of the supply chain by streamlining steps and locating the best prices for inventory
