What’s the typical signing bonus for lateral hire partners at BCG/Bain/McKinsey? McKinsey & Company Boston Consulting Group Bain & Company
How’re things at Bain these days?
Starting at MBB soon and wondering: would I ever find myself able to take ~2 weeks off for surgery and recovery sometime later during my first year, or is that just not realistic in this line of work?
How’s the recruiting mood at Bain & Company this year compared to the past two years?
Hi everyone, Has anyone here successfully transitioned from industry into Bain as an experienced hire (vs traditional MBA recruiting)? I’m about 3 years post-MBA, currently in industry, recently applied for a Consultant role at Bain & Company and am about to take the online assessment. Curious how different the process is for experienced hires vs MBA recruiting, and realistically how common this transition is a few years post-MBA. Would appreciate any advice.
Hi folks, I’d love to learn some networking tricks from you all. When attending an industry or academic conference—especially when you’re the only person from your team or company there—how do you successfully mingle and connect with others? I sometimes feel a bit awkward during networking sessions, especially when everyone is standing around with wine and many people seem to already know each other. How to approach and join a group conversation without feeling intrusive? More in comments…
Might be very few data points on this one OP. My guess is that as always it varies and may be negotiable, depending on what you’re bringing to the table. I’d say an appropriate range could be anywhere from 30-50k at that level, potentially more. For reference, UGs and MBAs entering MBB may receive anywhere from 5-35k, including lateral hires.
lol may god prevent you from doing estimation work… if MBA gets 35k then partner should get a bonus at least in the 150k-200k range. That said, they’re a lot more unique and valuable as revenue generators, so I’d expect much higher guarantees. They might not even get traditional singing checks, but guaranteed year-end bonuses!
Partners can make up to a 60% bonus based off of performance and new business.
Definitely more than this - I came in as an associate and got a 20k signing bonus
Usually depends if you were from a target school / MBA program. Did you come in as a lateral?
Lateral hire here who came in as a PL. Signing bonus offered was 30K, I negotiated to 40K but it was a pain and BCG took a while to confirm because they had to get some approvals. But frankly, I regret joining BCG.
