How long does the onboarding process usually take at a start up?
What am I doing wrong that I have had 6 interviews at Ford over the past 2 years and can’t get hired. I am so frustrated there is no feed back.
How long from your application do you wait before you give up on getting an interview? With all the automated everything these days, why the heck are so many companies ghosting applicants??
I recently found out that a colleague with less experience than me is making noticeably more, and I cannot stop thinking about it before interviews now. It changed the way I look at compensation conversations completely. I used to just feel grateful to get an offer, now I feel like I probably undervalued myself for years. Has anyone else had that moment? Did it change how aggressively you negotiate or interview?
Hey folks -- what’s a subtle interview red flag people should pay more attention to that most candidates ignore at first? I’ll start: - The interviewer constantly interrupts or seems distracted the whole time. - Nobody can clearly explain what the role actually involves day to day. - They dodge questions about turnover, onboarding, or why the role is open. - The interview feels weirdly adversarial for no reason. Anything else that comes to mind?
i have a second interview coming up soon for a job that's a perfect fit for me! this is my first time making it to a "second round" as most of my interviews are just screening calls or single rounds w/ no follow up. i don't recall getting asked any behavioral questions in the first interview, it was mainly just a vibe check and going over resume. this next one will be with my potential boss. i always ask smart questions and send thank you emails. if i've made it this far is that a good sign?
It depends. General onboarding is one thing, but having an actual feel for the position takes time. I’m coming up on month 6 at a major startup and I’m finally getting my stride.
Couple weeks I guess? That’s what I’ve experienced. Keep in mind, you’re working from day while onboarding too. There isn’t a set onboarding time frame. Get ready to multitask is all I can 100% guarantee on this topic
It depends on how much they’ve thought about employee learning. If they’re smart, they might have a 30/60/90 day plan, with most of the learning focused on the 30-45 days so that you can sink into the new processes and terminology. If they’re small and disorganized, there’s no onboarding and you’re handed a computer and you need to figure out how to catch up. I’ve been in some disasters. I always ask startups what their employee onboarding plan is when I’m interviewing with them.
