What is XIRR in simple terms? My XIRR for mutual fund investment is 11.8% , invested an year back. How's it? Average, good, poor etc.?

Suppose you started investing 2 years back, today you might be seeing total return as 18% which means total gain on your current invested sum, XIRR means average annual return in your portfolio, suppose you earned 5% in first year and earned 20% in second year then your XIRR would be around 12.5% (this is just a layman calculation for the awareness purpose) This means after 10 years you can easily check what is the actual annual return on the particular mutual fund. I hope this clears your doubt

If you do SIP, it will calculate returns using XIRR(returns of entire sip). I will consider it as good for equity. Some active funds will give better returns around 15
