Former Employee - Technical Specialist

I worked at DigiCaptions India full-time for more than a year

Pros

The best working environment you can have.

Cons

None to mention. Just that we were offloaded in September 2017.

Former Contractor - 3D Artist

I worked at Polygon Pictures

Pros

-Some projects are really good. If you are seeking for a big title name project. You might find its here(But if you already have AAA IP in your resume. This is not a Pros thing.) -various style of... project. -Friendly for foreigner, great translation team. -Nice people, found so many good friend and great talent co-worker which is the best part during I worked at PPI. -support for working VISA( from what I heard, PPI is the best one for VISA assistance.)t

Cons

This is a company which has a long history, potential, power, money, reputation and connection. But Unfortunately, - still using outdated software which ruins productivity and flexibility. Some of... the software is ancient and cannot develop anymore. Instead of buying or developing some new generation software, they insist on using the old one.  - pay a low salary compared to living costs in Tokyo and no benefits at all. someone didn't get relocation support. - Too many meetings, supervisors have 30-40% on each day and spend their time with useless meetings. - don't have a proper pipeline, which is in contrast with PPI age. PPI is one of the oldest Animation studios in the world. I think it's older than Pixar. But they still don't have it. - let inexperienced and low skill CGSV decide technical problems. Sometimes the decision is based on strong politics. Some projects have too many highest roles which is unwise management. Imagine that you get inconsistent feedback from different 2-4 people at the same time. According to all of that information on top and other reviews, they have a key which is the heart of the problem. That is "they don't listen". I don't believe that they don't know all of this issue, they know, but they just ignore it. Even if you try to tell them you will find "we have our own pipeline, we have our own way". This is a phase which they keep telling you when you have another solution or suggestion. Actually, there are so many people who try to provide it, but they try and fail regarding their decision based on strong politics in the company.

Advice to Management

PPI has the potential to become more than this. I have no doubt but you have to step back and look through the key of this problem. You already have a talented artist in your hand. Take care of... them by giving them more and listen to them carefully about their suggestions. Develop your software if you want more efficiency. Artists can work faster and can save more time with reasonable and more stable software. it might save your money more than keep using outdated software.  seriously fix all of the poor leadership and management problems. you might have to let them know straightly what is actually happening right now. Don't let this problem grow up to become a decline of Polygon Picture. You have to start it now.
