Pros
It was an easy job.
Cons
I was previously employed by GDI and enjoyed working for them until they had a change in management since they cannot keep employees. New management did not know how to speak with its employees and... very condescending. They hold favortism to the ladies who say yes to everything but are never at work. While working in an area that needed constant supplies and the need of workers coworkers who actually worked, they pile up responsibility to one employee and expect it to get done without more pay and equal distribution of roles and responsibilities. They allow employees to work in joggers and florescent colors, at times weather permitting they are wearing very explicit and revealing clothing. while others get reprimanded if they don't use proper uniforms. The lazy employees who do the least get the most hours while the ones who work more get worse hours. the most enjoyable part of the job is going home. They do not pay you accurately and expect you to still do the work. My checks were always short.
Pros
Meaningful work; staff and leadership come from a variety of backgrounds and seem driven to tackle pressing challenges
Cons
Don’t seem to have secure and reliable funding. Make sure to ask about their financials in interviews. It seems like they have a lot of funding based on the way info is presented on the website, so I... went with that assumption and made the mistake of not asking in the beginning. I found out much later that their funding is based on grants and they weren’t sure Interview process itself is solely managed by the actual team you’ll be working with, which in hindsight was a red flag because HR was never present in the process and that is essential to a fair experience. They have an HR department according to LinkedIn but I never connected with anyone there. Lots of miscommunication regarding timeline of hiring and next steps. The timeline continued to get pushed out but no one communicated with me— I had to keep following up. Some of the leadership were hard to get in touch with/unresponsive to emails. Seems to be a young org in many ways and still working out the kinks.
