Compare Museum of Science vs Boston Children's Museum

Pros

The coworkers and environment are fun and flexible, we have real care towards eachother. Very cool work locations and responsibilities towards unique theaters.

Cons

We don’t get paid enough for the job, way under the industry standard, and there’s not much room for upwards mobility. Also like most customer service jobs you are yelled at and given attitude by... visitors constantly.

Pros

There are some wonderful people who work at the museum who genuinely want to do good, and it can be a very fun environment.

Cons

Very low pay, even by museum standards. Employees are rewarded for work anniversaries with $10 gift cards (an amount that doesn't even go up for each year you've worked there). Busy work days just... mean getting pizza or snacks, no other compensation. Management/museum senior staff doesn't appreciate the contributions of floor staff, even if they're creating or leading programming. Floor staff are treated more like children than adults.
