I have been working at Sun Life full-time for more than 10 years

Pros

Multiple opportunity for innovation along with recognition: We encourage team to come up and submit new ideas. If their ideas are implemented, then they receive monetary awards. Also, on the other... side, if anyone gets trained on new technology such as Automation, RPA, Data etc then they are allowed to work on a POC as a team of 2-3 and post which they can nominate themselves as part of Engineering Awards which is again associated with monetary benefits. Opportunity to explore on new technology via hackathon on multiple technology : We have teams on working on different Technologies such as Data Analytics, Automation, Java as well as legacy like Mainframe. Every quarter one of the teams identify the business case and organise a hackathon, inviting people from different teams to participate and contribute to the same. Once the final product is ready, teams are again recognised in large forums in presence of partners. Great job rotation framework to rotate and provide opportunity for people to work on multiple skills :This is more like if anyone has worked on one technology and has the knowledge of another technology. After spending considerable time in the respective technology can apply for an IJP and move to another team on different technology which is area of interest. Example; a tester can apply for a BSA role; A Java resource can move and work on .Net etc

Cons

A great opportunity for learning and development on new technology however I think you can do better in sending people to external forums and show capability on large platforms
