- It’s hard to be bored. There’s lots going on and there is always more to learn. - Decent stock program, providing motivation to stay for the long haul. - Pre-pandemic, the perks were nice.... Lunches, regular happy hours, quarterly office events, travel opportunities, swag. - There are some incredibly brilliant minds who work(ed) here.
- Hierarchical structures are driven by favoritism, nepotism, and ego stroking. This stifles real career growth for many if you don’t fit the mold. I’ve seen it happen to numerous incredibly talented... people. And I’ve seen the same honorary friends of the boys club get promoted over and over again. - Many employees have a lack of autonomy and self-governance. This is an inefficient use of everyone’s time, it hurts innovation and creativity, and it’s insulting. - Much of management is immature, misaligned with each other, lacking vision, and riddled with indecision. This has a ripple effect down, creating more misalignment and tension cross-functionally. - There used to be a palpable cult mentality that honestly freaked me out when I joined. There were people acting like programmatic was going to change the world. I've even see company shirts that say "World Domination." Sorry, what? - Then, they made a splash about transforming media for the benefit of humankind. I am all for supporting independent journalism, but a lot of folks think this was distasteful and tone deaf. A multi-billion dollar advertising company that profits off of exploiting user data to show consumers ads they would rather not see does not have a mission to benefit "humankind." There's even an argument to be made that this company actively hurts humankind. Just own it. - A “benevolent dictator” is still a dictator. Why do people say Jeff is a benevolent dictator like it’s okay? It starts to become unsettling when even management jokes about it... - I guess much of this is to be expected of a company. It's just such a shame to disguise it as culture. There is no substantive culture, and false optimism is tacky.

Engineering Team - some really incredible leaders within that team that are committed to change and equity. The People Team + D&I The employees - some of the best and brightest in the business!
The last review was clearly crafted by someone to distract from what is really happening internally. It was written to discredit and invalidate the experiences of former employees just because those... experiences weren't favorable (news flash - not everyone loves where they work), and to normalize the erratic, irrational, and narcissistic behavior of the CEO. He has completely lost touch with reality and dangerously operates as if Wunderkind is immune to COVID. He has returned to the office in NYC along with other members/friends/drinking buddies of the leadership team, and they have since been pressuring other employees to come into the office with meeting invites titled 'In person preferred' or 'IN PERSON'.
Advice to Management
Listen to your employees, be advocates for their well-being, and do the right thing in spite of what the CEO demands because he is only out for himself.
