Pros
After working in several sales jobs in a variety of sectors over the past 12 years, I’ve found that I’ve never experience the personal and professional growth I’ve had since starting with Alpha 2 years ago. There is a great opportunity to live and work in an environment amongst truly elite individuals who inspire you to expect more from yourself with the knowledge and culture to help you achieve it. That being said, it’s been a journey that’s tested me and on reflection, those have been the moments that have been the most rewarding. As Alpha continues to build a fantastic reputation, what’s impressed me the most, is the ability for the company and the people within it to evolve, adapt and learn. This is a testament to the leadership and culture that is at the forefront of Alpha’s DNA
Cons
You need to be open to learn and develop fast in the early months which is non-negotiable and requires real commitment. The benefit of this commitment is that this turns into a habit ultimately leading to real growth!
Advice to Management
Keep a focus on reflecting on the successes and failures Alpha experiences. The humility across the business will help Alpha to thrive as we grow in stature and staff.

Pros
-Ability to work in a fast paced environment with a great team - Excellent development and growth opportunities - Hard work pays off mentality - Upper management isn't far removed (CEO and SR Partners are very involved in development) - Opportunity to travel around Canada and Europe -great opportunity for females in finance as it is typically a male dominated industry - had no prior experience in finance or FX and it hasn’t hindered my success
Cons
- with great opportunity comes a lot of pressure. If you can’t take the heat get out of the kitchen - start up in Canada (with every start up comes some growing pains)
Advice to Management
-keep addressing growing pains of being a startup while keeping the fun startup vibe
great opportunity for females in finance as it is typically a male dominated industry

Pros
- Competitive comp - Decent opportunities for growth - Max, one of the managing partners in Canada is a great individual
Cons
- Canadian division is poorly managed - Ruthless hiring/firing practices
Advice to Management
Be honest with employees. Don’t hire employees with the intent to fire more than half your staff within a month of beginning employment. Learn how to realistically analyze opportunities so you don’t end up over hiring.

Pros
This is a great place to learn and grow as a developer. You get an incredible level of freedom with projects, allowing you to use any tool at your disposal as long as you can justify it. This level of freedom comes with a lot more responsibility than in your typical developer role, but an environment like this is infinitely preferable to an overly restrictive and prescribed way of doing things. The projects you work on vary massively in scope, size and the area of the business you are involved in. This variety is very refreshing compared to other roles where you can end up pigeonholed as a developer that deals with one specific business function/area. There is also a generous bonus structure, which is always good!
Cons
As other reviewers have mentioned, working hours are longer than usual and this can take some getting used to. However, you are compensated for this which I feel is fair.
Advice to Management
In the time I've been at Alpha the tech team has changed considerably for the better. I would say to continue to drive this change and not fall back into less effective ways of working, while still maintaining the culture.
This is a great place to learn and grow as a developer.
