What is a typical working day like at Alpha FX?
Pros
There is not one pro to consider.
Cons
- Extremely poor leadership in the Canadian division. The people running the Canadian office are from another firm (Global Reach) and fail to promote the values that represent Alpha in the UK. Morgan, if you’re reading this you should recognize the damage they are doing to your name and the business you’ve built. - A culture of fear and hate. Homophobia and racism run rampant within the Canadian office. Management reinforces and promotes these values as the norm. For example, a black employee closed a massive deal which was celebrated with an email to the company. One of the Senior Partners then responded to the email with a picture of a piece of fried chicken. - You are coerced daily to side with management rather than having your own opinion. If you have your own opinion, you’re quickly shown the door. - Lies. You are promised that this is a life changing opportunity, but realistically only two people have been there longer than a year. The money promised is a lie. - Your success is dependent upon management closing deals. If they can’t close, it’s blamed on you and they fail to take responsibility. - Management is trying to get back to the UK as fast as possible and doesn’t care about developing individuals. They only care about themselves. - Reviews on Glass Door don’t accurately display what is happening in the Canadian office. You are forced to write fake reviews to make the company look good. Every positive review on here is fake and employees were forced to write them. - Management takes pride in the amount of turnover they have. After people are let go, they are crucified with comments and degraded with racial, homophobic, and xenophobic slurs. - A “healthy” lifestyle is promoted, but there’s nothing healthy about working 70 hours a week. - Toxic work environment. When management uses the word “retard” to describe clients, employees, and prospects without hesitation you know something’s wrong with the environment.
Advice to Management
Just admit to Morgan that you two are in over your heads and stop destroying his brand. Stop allowing racism and harassment in your office. Hold each other accountable rather than blaming it on your team. Stop degrading Canadian culture. Stop lying to prospects and clients. Stop using sexist, homophobic and racist language. You’ve been here this long and can’t create a high performing team. Canadians aren’t the problem, you are. If you’re considering a career at Alpha FX Canada, duck and run.
A “healthy” lifestyle is promoted, but there’s nothing healthy about working 70 hours a week.

It's a fast growing company and sometimes pressure is high on the young (new) technology team
Advice to Management

What are meetings like at Alpha FX?
Pros
I recently joined Alpha as a CS grad and my experience has been great so far. - The interview process felt incredibly personable, and even during the tech assessment, I felt like I was being encouraged to find correct solutions rather than being judged for not jumping to a perfect answer. - The onboarding process was very smooth - lots of meetings with different members of the company, learning about Alpha as a business, their history and long-term goals, etc. - I can't speak on all the tech teams, but the team I have joined have been amazing in incorporating the new graduates into the team, and I feel comfortable approaching any colleague if I need assistance with a ticket. - The culture is great for people who are hungry to learn and want to push themselves. - Again, for my team specifically, they are using an incredibly modern and interesting tech stack, which just fuels the desire to learn and progress as an engineer. - Communication channels seem quite open, with members of all levels of seniority able to have fair and honest conversations with each other.
Cons
The only con would be the work hours - if you were looking for a standard 9-5 then this may not be the place for you.

What is it like working with clients or customers at Alpha FX?
Pros
Some impressive members of the team
Cons
- Working hours beyond ridiculous - You don't need to work 12+ hours every day as well as be expected to work weekends to be successful in this industry. - Anything said in confidence to senior members of staff in meetings will be relayed immediately to Morgan (CEO) and used against you. Often resulting in a sacking. One must keep any negative feelings to oneself or risk being apprehended, not too dissimilar to those speaking out against the regime in North Korea - People will be hired from other companies solely for their book of clients, then sacked for "not fitting in with the culture" - In my time there I saw complete databases of direct competitors which could only have been obtained by former employees of said competitors. - Avoid working over the weekend at your peril - You will be lambasted for lack of effort. - Every single negative review on Glassdoor has been pushed down the list by fake reviews highlighting the positive aspects of the company - The CEO even asked people to write reviews in order to push down the negative ones. - If the CEO or his inner circle don't take to you after day 1, your days are immediately numbered; no matter how much money you may make them. - Large deals are done by members of staff then that member will be sacked before they are paid. - Tread very very carefully when considering employment here; you will be sold the dream but churned out faster than you could ever imagine; without rights and pay. Some great people there but a career in this industry is more enjoyable elsewhere.
Advice to Management
Treat people like human beings. That includes new starters not just those who have made you bundles of cash over the last few years. It is really a disgrace how easily people are sacked without notice pay and badmouthed after they have left. You couldn't be more two faced if you tried.

What is the work environment like at Alpha FX?
Pros
Alpha is publicly listed in the UK and has a proven track record of success. Being part of their first overseas office and applying this proven business model to a new market means a tremendous opportunity. While being at Alpha I’ve personally had the opportunity to travel to the UK twice and also attend a ski trip in France in my first year here. In terms of culture. Alpha emphasizes: integrity, hard-work, constant learning, curiosity, physical activity, and resilience among many other variables which foster a high-performance work environment.
Cons
None that I can think of. However, Alpha may not be the place for you if aren’t ready to truly put in the work and bring your A-Game everyday. With any opportunity that provides continual learning, progression, and life changing experiences, the expectations are great - but the rewards are even greater.
Advice to Management
Mark and Max genuinely want you to be successful - not only at Alpha but in your personal life. Keep up the great work and hiring the right people and the results will continue to come.
performance work environment.
