What is health insurance like at American Cruise Lines?

Pros

Great managers that work hard and really try to be accommodating. Great money if you work hard and follow the rules.

Cons

The health benefits are some of the worst I’ve ever heard of. No 401k match.

Advice to Management

There shouldn’t be a penalty in your bonus for planned PTO. Get rid of the minimum hour requirement with the bonus system. Points should be the only factor in the bonus structure. Cut bonus when people call in but not for scheduling time off. We shouldn’t be punished for using PTO.

The health benefits are some of the worst I’ve ever heard of.

Does American Cruise Lines offer sponsored degrees?

Pros

The interview process at American Cruise Lines was fantastic. They reached out to me immediately after I applied to set up a zoom interview. After the zoom I was offered a conditional offer to continue the interview process. This consisted of the "onboarding" , background check, and Drug test. During this period we communicated by email, which they were very punctual replying to any questions I had. I am from Tennessee, the training was in Connecticut. They arranged for me to fly out of my hometown airport to Connecticut for a week. The logistics were lined up perfectly for me. They pay you for training in a typical 8am-4 pm classroom setting, with hands on activities as well. They feed you lunch and dinner during this time. The instructors there go over the materials well, help you get ready for the job, and are open to answer any questions you have about your upcoming duties. I enjoyed my training experience with ACL and was chosen to continue on with the company, which I accepted! ACL seems to be all in for their employees and want to hire from within their company. I highly recommend to anyone who is looking to work hard, try a new experience, and wants upward job mobility.

Cons

I have only made it through training and accepted the job. The "part-time" length of the job is 28 weeks , you would have to apply and accept a full-time position if you wanted to continue with the company, which they encourage. The are expected to contribute and work daily. The training could be a little more hands on.
