What is health insurance like at Bimbo Bakeries?

Pros

Really good paychecks. No micromanaging.

Cons

The bakery in zanesville, oh use to be a difficult job to land, with 401k, pension plan, stock options and great health insurance. Since being bought by Grupo Bimbo we get bare minimum benefits. No stock options or pension plan. The worst is the crap health insurance we're forced to have. Pretty much paying for everything out of pocket. Being a very manual intensive job makes proper insurance way more important. Not to mention that they add more business but not more equipment, running us drivers harder and harder, burning us out. Just a big corporation doing what they do best: putting profits over the well being of their employees.

Advice to Management

Local management are rock stars. We see you doing your best with what you're given. Corporate: Your workforce will crack if the deprivation of benefits and upward climb of work load continues. They need more equipment to do a more effective job and way better insurance to keep drivers from quiting. The benefits now make the job far from worth it.

What is the retirement plan like at Bimbo Bakeries?

Pros

Pay is competitive in Production

Cons

Very minimal benefits, a failing pension and no company match on the 401k. The "union" at the facility I worked at is very weak and is in the company's back pocket. Work life balance is non existent, and the company refuses to restructure the schedule so employees can have more than 1 weekend off every 5-6 weeks. Hands down the worst company culture I have ever seen in my career of production environments, its appalling.

Advice to Management

Engage employees and include them. Treat them and speak to them as they are equal to you as a human being. Maybe something to include family. Employee recognition and benefits that will provide for employee's futures.

Does Bimbo Bakeries have a pension plan?

Pros

Great benefits package Pension Good vacation time Pay is pretty good

Cons

Schedule is heinous! -start time 230am -split days off -12 hour days is normal -6 days a week MANDATORY and not OT -60 to 70 hours workweek -NO DAY OFF REQUESTS - vacation time must be bidded the year before and according to seniority -pension isn't even worth it -poor management at upper levels -most non-family oriented company in my experience

Advice to Management

Improve work-life balance Implement day off request system....like every other company in existence Brainstorm a solution to start time (this could relieve start time and such long hours) Contract out work for 6th days (down days) Care about QUALITY and serving the customer that is buying your product

-pension isn't even worth it
