How are the career development opportunities at Bimbo Bakeries?
Pros
- There are thousands of hard-working, humble, empathetic individuals who work in varying fields around the United States. Predominantly in every field withstanding the majority of Corporate HR. - On occasion the company gives out free products as gifts and samples. The company is heavily invested in branding, which contributes to a culture of feeling proud to work for BBU. - The parent company, Grupo Bimbo, has strong values and a CEO who has vision.
Cons
- The HR field at BBU is incredibly toxic. Throughout the years that I worked with the company I witnessed a mass exodus of high-performing, well respected leaders within the Corporate HR department. - Conversely, the HR department breeds internal, political favoritism and is generally mired with nepotism from the executive levels and down. - Lack of internal equity at individual contributor levels - Promotions based on corporate status opposed to consistent achievement, focus, or vision - Blatant disregard of racism at management levels - Very few opportunities for career mobility within HR and general lack of process and integrity around performance management (subsequently blocking promotions) - Inauthentic commitment to D&I, isolated strategy on one demographic which is ironically bias at its best
Advice to Management
Most of management within HR - specifically at the executive levels - is the problem. My advice to the CHRO and/or Daniel Servitje is to hire a third party consultant to investigate HR and Talent, clean house, and rebuild from the ground up.

Why do Bimbo Bakeries employees quit?
Pros
Good talent working at Cicero facility.
Cons
After being dedicated to this company and working very flexible hours and unpaid extra hours, they treated me with disrespect. This was the reason I have decided to resign. Since I had one week of unpaid vacation, I thought that I should take it before the termination of my employment. What they did is actually terminating all my benefits including medical coverage after the last working day. Therefore, during my vacation I didn't have any medical coverage. They don't care about their employees at all. I was nice with them and answered texts and emails even during my vacation time only to get back a total lack of respect. Awful employer! never think to work for Bimbo Bakery at Cicero facility!
Advice to Management
Take care of your employees!

How are promotions handled at Bimbo Bakeries?
Pros
Decent benefits, 401K match, tuition reimbursement if you actually have time to go to school after they work you to death
Cons
The company only cares about a few people at the top, anyone director level and above. Managers, supervisors, and hourly associates are the scum of the earth. They will work you literally to death, and then just replace shoe without a second thought. Promotions are only available to males, regardless of your competence, skill, and ability to do the job. The posters have great descriptions of company values and ideals, but it’s all for show.
