What are pay raises like at Bimbo Bakeries?

Pros

You can potentially make some money, but only if you work 60 hour weeks. You work your own schedule majority

Cons

You have to start your day midnight - 4am, warehouse is extremely unorganized and every one who works there has such an ego and thinks they're your boss. You technically own your business, but they screw you royally in every way. Every day you have stuff missing from your order that they don't catch. Your order is nowhere near in chronological order...BUT if you don't put your returns in order they freak out and cry and won't accept it and then you'll get charged for it. Constantly dealing with horrible store managers who have empty promises of displays, then you have way too much product creating so much extra work. Stores calling you 24/7 if one thing is missing or out of place. No real days off as you are expected to work backstock Wednesdays and Sunday. 1099 position, so technically yeah you can GROSS $100K easily. Your take home will be half of that after taxes, expenses, and route payment. If you are grossing $100k you are easily working 60 hour weeks. You're really only buying yourself a $15/hr job until you pay off your route 10 years down the road, then you'll get yourself a little raise. The hours are horrible, receivers at some stores are sooooo slow and hold you up for 1+ hour each day.

Advice to Management

Quit being jerks about the smallest things. Put our orders in order like the contract states. It saves everyone time and is easier to account for missing product. Stop looking us out of orders for holidays etc. We know our stores way better than you do and when you lock us out 90% of people end up with a ton of returns, costing everyone more time and money.

How is the work/life balance at Bimbo Bakeries?

Pros

Pay is competitive in Production

Cons

Very minimal benefits, a failing pension and no company match on the 401k. The "union" at the facility I worked at is very weak and is in the company's back pocket. Work life balance is non existent, and the company refuses to restructure the schedule so employees can have more than 1 weekend off every 5-6 weeks. Hands down the worst company culture I have ever seen in my career of production environments, its appalling.

Advice to Management

Engage employees and include them. Treat them and speak to them as they are equal to you as a human being. Maybe something to include family. Employee recognition and benefits that will provide for employee's futures.

Does Bimbo Bakeries reimburse for mileage?

Pros

Paid mileage, higher hourly rate than competitors(only about $0.50 more).

Cons

Terrible hours, no PTO, sick days, healthcare or any other benefits, kept me at just below full time hours purposely, only promoted those who had family within the company, expected too much from lower level employees and did not hold their upper level employees to the same standard, condescending to staff, no raises, lack of communication, only hire through temp agencies.

Advice to Management

Completely rethink how you do things.
