What are co-workers like at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina?
Pros
Open seating work area, can work from home, people are friendly, great co-workers, office location is only a few years old; nice gym and cafeteria; work-life balance.
Cons
If you have a desire to move up in the company, it is very difficult unless you have mentor or have managerial connections; it's easy for a manager/supervisor to sabotage your application if you internally apply for another position.
Advice to Management
I've seen a lot of talented people leave this organization because of difficulty growing their career here; retain your talent instead of letting them walk out the door because you don't want to loose them in your department. Instead, you risk loosing their talents all together, which is a very bad business plan and demonstrates a very poor manager, and HR has no backbone or say-so, they just go along with it.
