How is management perceived at CMRIT?
Pros
Management behaviour is quite nice and professional. All faculty and staff are also quite collegial with a friendly atmosphere on campus. Events like Cultura and other cultural events are fun to spend time in. On-time salary. Nice green campus with abundant fresh air.
Cons
Too much bull work. It seems that they cannot tolerate even if faculty get a few hours extra relief time and find some needless work to fill up their time. Everything performed must be documented with excel sheets. Needless tasks like monthly report of work. Not checking for quality in research, teaching, projects etc. Only quantity. Faculty have targets but they make it difficult to reach the targets by assigning extra unreasonable work such as shaping CMRU curriculum, which is not technically the job of CMRIT faculty. If targets are not met, they dock the last month's salary for faculty even though there is no such agreement in writing at the time of employment. No contracts at all between faculty and management. All terms and conditions along with workload must be documented and contracts issued so that there are no discrepancies in understanding of work loads. Hot samosas in the top floor of canteen is banned and cold ones are allowed at the ground floor of the canteen. Faculty have to pay for two professional memberships and all the conference trips from their own pocket. Patent applications are made mandatory which is ridiculous. Patent work should be out of enthusiasm and zeal, not out of mandatory work.
Advice to Management
Put QUALITY above QUANTITY, TRUST above EVIDENCE, RESULTS above PROCESS. Basically, trust faculty to give quality results than ask them to give evidence of many processes.
No contracts at all between faculty and management.
