How is management perceived at Chambal Fertilizers & Chemicals?

Pros

Only comparing with other private Refineries/Petrochemical/Fertilizer companies: Some good people at top level. A bit of human value in the organisation If you are good technically, you can apply yourself. Pay is decent as compared to it's peers.

Cons

Manufacturing and Operations was charming only until the dawn of tech industry. Since the processes are highly hazardous, you'll only find them near to tier 2 cities or low population zones. So if you are someone who is interested in a happening & pacey lifestyle, sorry, it's not your cup of tea. This is applicable to manufacturing in general. Middle management is mediocre. Chemical engineers are recruited for shift jobs, so you cannot expect a good work life balance. Fertilizer industry in India is government subsidy dependant, therefore there is lack of investment and competition in the sector, hence professional growth is slow.

Advice to Management

Improve the middle management, it will help in employee retention. It's okay to pay conservatively to freshers and unproven talent but improve packages to people who have stayed beyond 2-3 years, it will attract better people towards the organisation. People do not always demand career progression, but a better return to their hard work, pay your panel engineers well otherwise they will definitely move to different job roles in other attractive sectors.
