Does City of Edmonton have a pension plan?

Pros

Some great people, decent pay, double overtime, the benefits and pension are excellent

Cons

management is very disconnected from field/lab workers. work culture is built around fear and bullying in the workplace.

Why do City of Edmonton employees quit?

Pros

The City is trying hard to improve its culture but has a long way to go. Being a large organization with discrete Departments, some Departments and Branches are more successful than others when trying to live the corporate values.

Cons

Inability to create a safe workplace where employees feel properly supported. Systemic blame culture, with no management accountability. Cowardly dismissal practices where the tough conversations are completely avoided.

Advice to Management

Live the City's values. Work to embrace cultural differences and unique perspectives. Undertake meaningful, sustainable initiatives that actually benefit all Edmontonians and are not just stopgap showboating exercises that have no long term benefit.
