How are the career development opportunities at ClearView Healthcare Partners?

Pros

The people have always been the main asset at ClearView. Also, they do genuinely work on some interesting projects.

Cons

The persistent disregard for employee concerns are finally starting to catch up with ClearView. Attrition is through the roof with nearly half the consultant class from last summer having left already. Former employees are also posting about their experiences on Glassdoor, Fishbowl, and Vault and a clear narrative of poor leadership and toxic work conditions is starting to emerge. Apply at your own risk. Better yet, just take your talent to one of the other LS consulting. There are so many places where you can get the same level of career development for better pay and WAYYYY less stress.

Advice to Management

You've made your priorities clear - I think at this point it is time for the market of incoming talent to take over and respond. Good luck with future recruiting - people are finally starting to see through the smoke and mirrors.

Does ClearView Healthcare Partners have any sort of mentoring programme?

Pros

ClearView is full of bright, young, and energetic individuals who combine life sciences expertise with a shrewd business sense. Working at the firm is an excellent opportunity to engage in a broad set of project types with some of the industry's biggest players. While the firm is experiencing incredible growth, there is also a great focus on mentorship here, and leadership is very supportive of individual professional development.

Cons

Work-life balance at ClearView leaves something to be desired. You can expect to work 60+ hour weeks, sometimes for a month or more at a time for a project; plan on keeping social activities to the weekend and being on the call pretty much 24/7 when on such stretches. Additionally, ClearView has a very distinct "style", in terms of the culture, aesthetic, and working philosophy. If you are less than a solid fit, this will likely cause some extra stress in your life.

Advice to Management

Keep doing the good things well - supporting PD for employees, keeping them engaged with exciting projects, and striving to maintain that "tight-knit" feel even as you continue experiencing major growth. Incorporate feedback from around the office to help inform future steps.

While the firm is experiencing incredible growth, there is also a great focus on mentorship here, and leadership is very supportive of individual professional development.

How are promotions handled at ClearView Healthcare Partners?

Pros

Great co-workers who are all relatively like-minded in their intellectual curiosity, team-first mentality, ambition, and work-hard-play-hard approach to the job (including both junior team members all the up to company leadership). Early opportunities to drive projects relatively independently and be client-facing early on in one's tenure. Many interesting and high-impact project types across the biopharma industry. Solid benefits package and competitive salaries, and merit-based promotion policy allows those who are great at the job to rise in the ranks pretty rapidly (with no "up or out" policy for those who take on slower trajectories). Lots of other random perks like end-of-case dinners, quarterly celebrations, near-monthly social events paid for / organized by some arm of the company. Great exit opportunities for those interested in leaving, but great opportunities for internal growth for those interested in being career consultants (i.e., ability to become principal at the company within 5 - 7 years).

Cons

It's hard to agree with several of the recent negative reviews - ClearView has its challenges (mostly in the form of tough work life balance and growing pains from a bolus of new staff), but it's hard to see how there are discrimination issues (if anything, ClearView tries very hard to have a culture of inclusion) and I definitely don't agree that tenured people are not working hard enough / leaving it to the junior team members to do all of the work, etc. (trust me, project leads are working long hours too). I think that the rapid growth and big hiring quotas inevitably mean that we bring in people who are less capable and/or willing to excel, who then harvest resentment when they don't do well at the job, and it's sad to see that several of the reviews are (from my perspective) blatantly inaccurate. Some actual cons from my perspective: - The hours can be long and unpredictable, and a large proportion of managers and leadership don't seem to acknowledge that not everyone wants to live a 24/7 on-call lifestyle - Leadership often appears to put clients and revenues first, rather than prioritizing the team experience, minimizing team burn, and tailoring opportunities to professional development - The rapid growth has led to hiring a subset of candidates that are not very strong and end up not being very capable, even after 6 - 12 months into their tenure - Similarly, the training approach for early onboarding is also insufficient to bring new hires up to speed before throwing them into the lion's den and expecting too much out of them, which causes challenges for more tenured team members in the form of having to redo and/or take on extra work - The promotion policy, while mostly fair, inevitably has some politics around it that can lead to a few being "left behind" - The number of vacation days is way too little considering how long the hours can be

Advice to Management

We know growth is important, but figure out a way to make growth sustainable by hiring the right people and sufficiently training them before expecting them to be functional.

How do employees feel about their professional development opportunities at ClearView Healthcare Partners?

Pros

Working at ClearView provides great opportunities to rapidly learn industry content and professional skills. The people are smart and motivated and most genuinely care about making a positive impact on the healthcare industry.

Cons

Work-life balance is not really respected, with weekend work often expected without gratitude or apologies. Many projects are not properly scoped or staffed, leading to burnout. Lower-level employees have limited say in staffing decisions, which can lead to being staffed on projects with no content background rather than being staffed according to strengths/prior expertise.

Working at ClearView provides great opportunities to rapidly learn industry content and professional skills.
