What is health insurance like at Duke Energy?

Pros

The culture is great, nice work/life balance

Cons

A lot of hiring is done through recruiters who low-ball you as much as possible and depending on the contracting company you'll be told full time employment is very likely after your contract but in reality one or two select people actually get hired full time and the rest get stuck with their contracting company which in my situation means now PTO, no vacation, barely any health insurance, no 401k, nothing. If you ask for a raise from your manager, they'll tell you that you need to discuss that with your recruiter, and if you ask for a raise from your recruiter, they'll tell you they can't and give whatever reason they can come up with. In terms of management, it depends. Some managers are okay, some are active and really want to know how the team is doing, some sit in their office all day and only hear about the team based off what is done by the end of the quarter.

Advice to Management

Be active with your teams, it's a lot easier to stop small problems from being big problems if you can intervene way before it snowballs out of control
