How are promotions handled at Freshworks?

Pros

Good culture Great product Very talented people Freshworks has the building blocks to be one of the best companies in the bay area, and dominate their markets.

Cons

Your experience depends on your manager. Some are fantastic, some are very difficult to work for. Lacking in overall support to some teams. If you're not an Account Executive, you're not going to be a priority. A 2019/2020 rush of hiring has resulted in some poor organizational decisions and a management team that isn't prepared to meet the demands of a large workforce, and hasn't included enough women in pivotal roles. Promotions are rare, and some roles have no path to promotion whatsoever. In a company expanding so rapidly, they should be looking internal-first. There isn't a coordinated sales & marketing effort to build the customer base. Each team is doing things in their own way, and the strategy changes day-by-day. Pay is well below market rate.

Advice to Management

Take the above criticism seriously to drive organizational change, and FW will dominate. When several employees all have complaints about the same problem areas, actually take action.

Promotions are rare, and some roles have no path to promotion whatsoever.

What is the feeling of job security at Freshworks?

Pros

Excellent amenities for employees - Free food, Good Coffee, Gym, Good locality etc. Decent salary with Work load is low. No standards. Work as you wish. Complain to HR if boss questions. Action will be taken on immediate leads as an Employee first company.

Cons

Below industry par tax savings plans. Growth depends on your relationship with boss than work. Speaking up is discouraged at manager+ levels. Juniors are encouraged on complain and their work accepted however they deliver. Poor productivity due to multiple iternation of same project which otherwise should be done with proper plan in one shot. No job security. Multiple layoff if spoken up to Leadership on their planning gaps and guidance lapse.

Advice to Management

At Tactical and operational level - Discourage immaturity and improve productivity with industry compliance standards. At leadership level - Encourage Forward thinking and Risk management instead of penalising for speaking up when leaders make decisions that affect company funds and standards of quality.

No job security.
