How do employees feel about sign on bonuses at GE Aerospace?
Pros
Used to be a good place to work
Cons
The pay used to be somewhat competitive and the bonus was even decent. Since all the inflation, all of the other companies are raising rates while we’re still getting paid the same. Our bonus went down, but the sign on bonus went up. They also added drug testing on site and if someone wants to embarrass you, they can turn in anonymous notes to EHS or HR and they will make you strip in front of the IT guy. When we found out about this, we said that if you have to get naked you should be taken off site and have the test administered. HR even responded “you’re not naked because you still have your clothes on you”
Advice to Management
Get rid of drug testing for new make.

What are pay raises like at GE Aerospace?
Pros
People are nice, job can be interesting depending on the role
Cons
Low pay for the job and industry ($73.5k). I expected GE to offer a lot more ($85K+) after reading reviews and speaking with current GE employees who even told me how much they were making and the minimum I should be making was $85k-$95k. Salary is based on Cincinnati, OH COL even though the job is located in Evendale, OH which is about 20-30min away. Evendale is very expensive whereas Cincinnati is very cheap. Also, no clear career progression and salary increases. Current friends who have worked at GE for many years have still struggled to get promotions and rely on ~2% salary increases, not even enough to keep up with inflation or the salaries of new grads at different companies. Their low salary increases could be a reason they don't pay new grads more because they don't want to pay existing employees less so they underpay for the market. Overall, it seems like if you join GE, just be prepared to leave for a different company after a few years for more competitive pay.
Advice to Management
Improve market research for these positions. If you want to attract top talent, then your pay should reflect that. GE Aviation shouldn't strive to be just an average company hiring average talent if they're working on complex things like jet engines. Paying your employees a little above market will not only attract the best of the best engineers who can do the job of 2 mediocre engineers, it will also save you from people leaving for better opportunities down the line. At the end of the day, people will be forced to take the job that pays more because they have bills to pay and a family to raise. It's unfortunate I have to write this because I really do like the company, but it's impossible to justify being underpaid.

How do employees feel about the referral program at GE Aerospace?
Pros
Permissive time off, kind and co-operative coworkers, extremely flexible remote work arrangements, mostly compassionate and insightful leadership, good benefits, bonus program for non-management employees recently announced.
Cons
Some old school manufacturing mindsets persist, event in the digital space, and there's very little pushback on this culture from current leadership. Salaries are generally not as high as they are for comparable positions with other companies Greater Cincinnati Area. Leadership continuously acknowledged this and the bonus program should help, but this has not rolled out yet. HR goes out of it's way to be obtuse at times, especially around compensation, and can be difficult to deal with.
