What is overtime like at GoBolt?

Pros

The one star is for the people who work at the company who are not in management positions. A lot of the people who work here are truly kind and hard-working people who make themselves available under really long hours to help where needed.

Cons

A lot of the cons I'm going to list are often excused for "typical start-up culture" and laughed off and normalized. Working here wasn't a very funny or normal experience. I watched countless employees burnout (and suffer with their mental health as a result) and have people in leadership positions do nothing to help them. Not only would they do nothing to help them, but they were also often chastised for experiencing said burnout. Again not funny, not normal. - Virtually no onboarding, you're thrown into the role and expected to know things your manager doesn't even know - High-performance expectations with zero to little guidance - No transparency, a lot goes on behind closed doors and you only find out the second the change happens and are expected to adapt instantly - Terrible benefits, you have 2 sick days, which is the legal minimum in Canada. Your vacation days are decent, but you're never going to get to use them because: - Long hours with no paid overtime. This will never be recognized by your management unless they're trying to undermine another employee for working less - There is zero work-life balance, you will need to work late. A "normal" shift for me was 9AM - 9PM, and people often worked later than that. - Public Shaming - I really wasn't sure what to call this one, but essentially if you make a mistake there is a good chance you'll be shamed in a public Slack channel for it

Advice to Management

None of the managers at the time I worked there had any management experience, and it showed. They were also often quick to turn the blame on someone else when confronted about their lack of skills being in a management position. This company is truly full of talented, incredibly smart individuals who don't get the credit, the pay or the opportunities they deserve because management doesn't know how to manage effectively. Please do better.

Long hours with no paid overtime.
