What kind of career opportunities exist at Grail Insights?

Pros

salary is not bad, jovial set of people, some managers and projects are really good if you get chosen for them, okay-ish place to learn for a fresh graduate, high profile clients

Cons

most of the projects involve competition assessment (reading the website of a firm and re-phrasing that information into slides/excel)/ looking up people on LinkedIn or similar tools and profiling them/ getting contact details so that the client can target them/ same and repeat survey projects | a lot of Project Leads are SERIOUSLY under-qualified/ under-skilled and/or reserved to try anything new/ lack skills to drive the thinking part anew | Kiddish deadlines, when they sell the projects – either they already know that the team working on the project will end up working late nights for over a month (and they don't give a damn about it) or they are idiotic enough not to know the challenges that might be faced when working on a project – my take 80% the former case and 20% the latter/ whatever the cause, many teams sit there for unjustifiable number of hours | at an MT/ Analyst level, you do not get intellectual peers, most of them are just there | no up-skilling possible while working here

Advice to Management

Please think about the quality and timelines before selling any project (think about the challenges or at least about the team who will be burning the mid-night's oil for those pathetic copy-paste jobs)– please don't just sell anything | what is the use of the PD system if they are not willing/ able to get you one project that one deserves/ requests for | stop the kiddish cost savings with facilities and cab system, they are just making the employees more aggressive and disappointed

ish place to learn for a fresh graduate, high profile clients

How are senior leaders perceived at Grail Insights?

Pros

1. Good work environment (because of the young crowd) 2. People are easily accessible here

Cons

So so so many. 1. No short term and long term goals 2. Career paths of most people not defined. If you're good at boot-licking and have enough good luck, you'll be ok, otherwise you're ruined for the next few years 3. The CSOs sell anything in order to keep up the sales numbers. They will even try to bring in legal projects if the billables are good 4. The allocation of the resources is a joke. They staff anyone on any project irrespective of their past experience, skills, and talent.....and the managers expect them to give 110% from the get go. 5. Coming to the managers, some of them have had a very quick and explosive growth (majorly because they have certain talents such as boot licking, playing politics etc.), and hence they are not ripe enough professionally to ha dle projects well. The result is, associates and juniors suffer a lot 6. You get mothing for the good work, if you're not a manager's fav guy 7. The promotions are on 3 levels. Level 1 is priority focus, where the so called top managers first get everything aligned for their face juniors to help them in promotions. Level 2 is a 50-50 chance where your luck plays an important role. Level 3 is low priority band, and you'll only.progress in career further under this band when you have 5 rating everywhere. Otherwise, they'll pick any comment or remark from any feedback and tell you that this is the reason why we aren't promoting you. (I can sag this with confidence because I have seen people getting lower ratings being promoted, and the others not given a progression)

Advice to Management

1. Sort out your allocations please. A life sciences guy won't like to work all year long on ICT projects 2. Please make sure your new managers actually know the art of managing work, client and the team....all of them. That's how the work can be done better 3. Have a direction for CSOs, don't just set region wise quotas for them, also consider having good quantity and quality of projects across your focus industry sectors 4. Provide better opportunities and scope of growth for people having masters degree. No matter who and from which college, if he or she is a bachelor they would still be a few steps behind the ones with MBA degree when we talk about management, client handling etc

Level 1 is priority focus, where the so called top managers first get everything aligned for their face juniors to help them in promotions.
