If you’re looking for a role where you can enjoy the beautiful Barcelona weather, have coffee breaks on the rooftop terrace, and not feel overwhelmed by daily tasks, this is the perfect place. The atmosphere is chill, the work-life balance is great, and things aren’t taken too seriously. You can do your job, enjoy a decent salary, and progress into management or other career paths after a few years of consistent effort. For those who value stability and a non-stressful work environment, this is a fantastic opportunity.

Now, if you’re looking for career coaching, personal development, and real progression, HPE Barcelona is probably not the place for you. The environment is extremely laid back, and as a result, there’s almost no focus on job coaching, mentoring, or structured feedback. Career discussions are rare, and there’s little to no guidance on how to move forward in your role, discuss salary progression, or even align your work with a long-term vision. The hub itself lacks a clear mission or vision. It often feels like a bit of a kindergarten—chaotic, with no real sense of direction, where they’re simply seeing which individuals get “upgraded” to the field roles to experience the “real” HPE. The managers themselves are often those who’ve coasted for a couple of years and moved up simply by sticking around. This means they’re not equipped to mentor or coach new talent, nor to challenge you in ways that foster growth. That being said, this could still be a good career move if your end goal is to transition to a field role in other countries, where business is treated differently. You can use your time at the hub to familiarize yourself with the company and the portfolio, and over time, make the transition to the field. One of the biggest downsides for me was the complete absence of a sales culture. There are no sales tools, no ecosystem, and the concept of KPIs doesn’t exist here. People celebrate “closing deals” when, in reality, a channel partner has done all the work. Your role? Mostly administrative—updating Salesforce, scheduling a demo, maybe connecting some people. If you’re looking for a real sales environment with hunting and business development, this won’t be it. Around 70% of the different sales roles is handling administrative tasks. Coming from other companies with different, more dynamic cultures, it became clear to me that people at HPE Barcelona are not really "working" in the traditional sense. There's a lot of pretending—pretending to be busy, pretending to close deals—while the actual 40-hour workweek could easily be completed more efficiently. The environment feels very fake (?), with little real drive or motivation. For someone like me, who values purpose, action, and tangible results, this lack of energy and ambition made it difficult to stay engaged. For me personally, this was the worst fit I’ve experienced, especially in terms of how I was managed and coached in my career. The lack of direction, leadership, learning and a genuine sales culture made it a very poor fit, especially for someone with a growth mindset. The management lacks basic leadership, project management, and people management skills. You’re more of a number than a valued employee, and the focus is more on their own comfort than on team development. If someone leaves, it’s shrugged off because the managers remain comfy in their positions. For graduates, early-career professionals, or anyone with a growth mindset, I wouldn’t recommend HPE Barcelona. If you're ambitious and looking to be challenged, supported, and pushed to grow, this environment might feel more like treading water than moving forward. However, if you're someone who values a laid-back atmosphere, good work-life balance, and the chance to live in a great city like Barcelona, this could be a good fit. HPE Barcelona is perfect if you're looking for a relaxed, low-stress job in a beautiful city. But if you're after personal and professional development, be critical of what you want from your career, because this environment might leave you stuck in place rather than moving up.
