How are the career development opportunities at Hilton?

Pros

Great culture, good benefits, lots of opportunities if you are good and prove yourself

Cons

Hard to get anything done in such a large, matrixed organization. Women do not earn as much as men yet do the bulk of the work.

What kind of career opportunities exist at Hilton?

Pros

Working at Hilton RMCC was a great foot in the door into Revenue Management. Flexible work schedule, casual dress, happy hours, opportunity for advancement with in Hilton Corporate or on property. Fun place to work

Cons

At times, inter office politics played a role in promotions and opportunities, but what big company doesn't have those issues. Promotions were given to best revenue managers, but sometimes not the best people managers.

How do employees feel about their professional development opportunities at Hilton?

Pros

Great employee benefits - a lot of discount on hotel rooms, some members of staff are fantastic and some management, good variety of skills to learn and lots of courses you can go on etc if your manager is good.

Cons

It’s all about location. I’ve been at 2 Hilton properties, the first was amazing, staff were like a family, GM was very friendly and open and approachable. Second property (and the reason I left), the owners of the property had too much say and the whole place was about nothing but money. Upper management didn’t care about any staff regardless of the fact staff turnover was so high. No Hilton values whatsoever. Pay is not good in the U.K. for the work you do and obviously any front of house Role, the shifts are all over the place.

Advice to Management

Consistency is key. Listen to your staff, listen to the staff surveys. Stop hiring people who don’t have the Hilton magic.
