What is the company culture like at JR Technologies?

Pros

It's a different company now than it was 8 months ago, in both good and bad ways. Still, the overall working conditions are very good. No overtimes (often), no timed breaks, friendly environment, people are mostly reachable and there isn't too much pressure, which can actually be considered as an equally bad thing (more below). Salaries are probably considered "normal", but they are varied and surely not everyone is equally satisfied. The company's field of interest (tech solutions for airlines) is interesting, yet risky and challenging. On a final note, JR is a 3 years old company, so overall infrastructure is good.

Cons

The company is struggling to manage its projects and properly assign work to the employees. A pessimist could also say that it struggles not to bankrupt overnight. More of that, as of recent economic & existential crisis, several people were fired and even more resigned. Resignations weren't only a result of the wage delays, but before that due to the introduction of the hateful and unfair Stack Ranking system, which pretty much the whole tech industry has gotten rid of years ago, yet JR thought it was a good idea to bring it back in 2018. It wasn't. Furthermore, the management and the team leaders continuously fail to manage their people, trust them with meaningful tasks, or educate the new employees sufficiently. At least 5 people I know of, resigned because they felt useless in the company or were constantly bored or were given job positions they hadn't chosen in the first place (the most common scenario being, employees being recruited as software developers and later moved to different positions).

Advice to Management

1) Get rid of the Stack Ranking system. I don't need to justify this advice, bad criticism is already all over the internet, just google it. 2) Be transparent to your employees about business decisions. This way, everyone will feel part of the company. There is so much speculation and gossiping within the company about pretty much everything, due to the fact that management isn't informative enough about the company's projects, its business tactics and overall, long-term goals. 3) Educate your new employees. If you don't, you're just spending money on them for nothing and they eventually leave. 4) Don't move employees to positions they don't like. If you do, they'll eventually leave. 5) Get rid of the numerous time-tracking tools, they rarely say the truth anyway. 6) Give employees meaningful responsibilities and put trust in them in order to feel useful. Otherwise, they'll just leave. 7) Keep the 8 working hours as it is, no matter what. In a country full of unpaid overtimes, JR stands out as a perfect example regarding "work-life balance".
