Does John Deere offer dental insurance?

Pros

Decent benefits (fitness reimbursement, okay medical and dental, good tuition reimbursement program)

Cons

Terrible mentorship, especially for new grads (tripled my salary by going to a different company) No new grad training program (e.g. bootcamp like a lot of tech companies, dedicated mentors) Low pay Very, very, very few women in engineering Lack of diversity; I saw very few (maybe zero?) DEI initiatives

Does John Deere have a pension plan?

Pros

- Great pay, benefits, 401k match and pension plan - Opportunities to quickly advance throughout the company

Cons

- Some positions require you to put in long hours and days while other people are able to skate by working a sub 30 hour week. It seems that it is difficult to actually fire anyone and management has failed to properly discipline employees and kept around culture- killers because they are knowledgeable. They look the other way

Advice to Management

Be consistent and make sure you understand the implications of large sweeping decisions before you make them. I have seen a lot of decisions made by upper leadership severely harm critical initiatives as a side effect ( voluntary separation programs).

Does John Deere offer parental leave?

Pros

Benefits, pension plan, sick leave, parental leave, conservative corporate culture (for better and worse). Generally a stable, steady place to work where you feel you can contribute over time and you will be fairly compensated with good benefits. Many locations where cost of living is low, but compensation is still nationally competitive.

Cons

Conservative corporate culture can be slow moving. Recent shakeups have undermined the perception that (salaried) employment is reliable even through economic downturns. Until 2020, work culture was apolitical, but this has now been changed at the highest levels of leadership.

Advice to Management

Return to the apolitical work culture that prevailed prior to 2020. It is unwise in the long term to take political stances into the office, especially when the political opinions expressed by senior leadership conflict with those of a large chunk of the workforce and likely a broad majority of the customer base.

Benefits, pension plan, sick leave, parental leave, conservative corporate culture (for better and worse).

Does John Deere offer life insurance?

Pros

Pay is good, 401k is great

Cons

Unless you are a politician, you won't move up Insurance is terrible Every year they figure out a new calculation to downsize your bonus Promotion of people who aren't capable of getting anything logical done, but someone in management is sponsering them so they have went way past their capabilities

Advice to Management

Your losing what made John Deere a great place to work (the people) as you become a more numbers only driven company. As usual, Deere is far behind the curve. As more companies focus on social responsibility, you are becoming more like Caterpillar in the 2000s, a heartless, soulless company with people leaving in droves.

Insurance is terrible
