What is health insurance like at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith?

Pros

There is air in the office for you to breath provided at no cost to you!

Cons

Benefits - health insurance only covers 80% if it covers at all, following your $2,000+ deductible; no 401k match; no maternity leave unless you are an attorney, and dental doesn't cover cleanings in some cases... HR/management - expect micro managing; late 7 minutes, better call the office. Attorneys can treat you like garbage, its not acceptable for you to say "no" to anything, no matter how absurd the request ie demand. Office Equipment and Supplies - Everything is broken, and if it isnt it will be. Also expect to spend a decent amount of time doing tedious tasks due to poor quality/setup of equipment.

Advice to Management

Stop being so cheap, provide your employees with quality health care, and match the 401K.

Does Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith offer unlimited holiday?

Pros

Smart colleagues; unlimited PTO (but have to make your hours!); management largely hands off - free to run your cases as you see fit (also a con, see below); annual pay bumps; overall if you’re looking for an insurance defense firm this is (IMO) the very best. People here are happier than people at other competitor firms.

Cons

HR is a disaster, very unorganized; management oversight largely depends on practice group so if you’re under a good managing partner you’ll love life, if the partner is high maintenance you may not be happy; bonuses tied to your hours - could be a pro also

Does Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith offer life insurance?

Pros

Flex hours, paid transportation, life insurance, choice of medical insurance. They close for snowstorms.

Cons

Very dysfunctional revolving door environment. Run !!!! Horrible pay and benefits. Management is so cheap they only have a Christmas party for partners.

Advice to Management

Don't treat people horribly. Rate people objectly and get a real office manager who doesn't go on witch hunts
