What are some insights into the application process at Lowe's Home Improvement?

Pros

Good coworkers, decent pay for the area I was in.

Cons

Management would change your schedule on the fly, and would not give you a heads up 90% of the time, especially if you were going to another store. Most of the time they wouldn't even ask you, they would tell you. Too pushy with wanting everyone to get a credit card application. No actual training.

Advice to Management

Communicate with your workers and ask them if they can take extra hours or work in another store. Don't assume that they can. Schedule a decent amount of hours, or at least be transparent if you need to cut hours. And don't just tell people they're only working a half day right before they go to lunch. Just do better with your scheduling and communication in general.

What is the company culture like at Lowe's Home Improvement?

Pros

Great people depending on store culture and district Associate Discounts Very Good benefits for a big box retailer Flexible scheduling if desired Good executive management team

Cons

Long hours for a salaried ASM (typical work week 50-55) so negotiate on that understanding it’s not a 40 hour job Overall ASM salaries are lower than what they should be for the amount of work you do

Advice to Management

Better base pay and brackets for ASM roles Store Manager decent salary and bonus But if moved up internally from a department supervisor to store ASM you’ll have make less money per hour based on the promo budget and salary ranges for ASM If should not be that way.
