Does there seem to be diversity at Lowe's Home Improvement?
Pros
Good diversity and inclusion, get to meet a lot of interesting people and learn new skills.
Cons
Horrible scheduling and staffing, only one day off at a time rarely ever two consecutively. It feels as if the company is trying to actively destroy work life balance of employees.

What kind of work are different roles expected to perform at Lowe's Home Improvement?
Pros
Work diversity, higher pay than most retail jobs. Benefits are decent.
Cons
General Manager isn't very friendly to employees. New employees make more money than older. A few brown-nosers. No set schedule. Need to constantly check your schedule for changes. When a bunch of people call off on weekends you will be covering other departments. Poor communication from Upper Management. HR...what HR.
Advice to Management
Retail Management classes needed.

Do personal relationships impact the work environment at [company]?
Pros
I was offered 3 dollars more than average to start above anyone else in the area Fun work parties Breakroom is stocked when seasonal employees are hired.
Cons
HR and local management doesn't take disciplinary action on anyone in management. I can't tell you how many times I reported the same person for the same stuff for no results or the general manager to pull me aside asking me to stop. If I didn't come in on my day off or stay longer, I was threatened and they tried to manipulate me into it constantly. Employee gossip is toxic, and male employees stayed late to have sexual relations with a married member of fulfillment team. When I started to get ready to leave I was given a raise to stay, but garden manager told me I was loose and I was the reason my then-boyfriend-now-spouse will probably leave me. A fellow cashier put a note on my then-boyfriends car telling him I was flirting with all the male employees *gag*
Advice to Management
Handle your management team appropriately, and take accountability. If I had known my rights, I would've sued you for harassment in the workplace and for doing nothing about it. You shouldn't threaten people to come in, you should just ask nicely or up your part time associates to full time

Do employees talk about their political views at Lowe's Home Improvement?
Pros
-10% discount -Access to clearance items -Some great associates, despite everything -Benefits for part time workers -$14 an hour starting
Cons
-Single worse work environment for communication I've ever been in -Systems seem unnecessarily complicated, inefficient, and hard to learn with oodles of caveats and exceptions -Constantly pushing us with minuet, arbitrary rules, and trying to regulate every second of your time spent on the floor -Blatant favoritism, to the point its an accepted fact that budding up to managers=higher job security and leniency -Flagrant hypocrisy of management and a general lack of respect for a lot of the floor workers -Weird conservative environment that can, at times, foster sexism, sexual harassment and all around bigotry -Employees are left on their own a lot of the times with no real power to do anything -Scheduling is randomized and inconsistent, leaving your livelihood up to chance. -You'll be treated as a highly replaceable cog in the Lowes Capitalism machine, with high turn over rates, poor training, and the possibility of being fired over minor offenses if enough of them build up
Advice to Management
I wish management was more in touch with employees, instead of acting like us needing them is an inconvenience, or preferring to keep hiring in new people over improving the work environment for the existing staff who just need more consistency, dependability and respect. It's an oddly distant and standoffish environment, especially when you're just starting out. Things aren't laid out clearly and concisely, and at times store policies directly conflict, or are straight up unsustainable. There's a huge disconnect mentally and verbally in many aspects, and all the pressure of these system failings falls directly on the workers. It's a surprisingly stressful environment where a lot of the stress stems from how hard it is to get help regarding an issue, rather than an issue arising in and of itself.
