Does Lumen offer massages?

Pros

Lumen treats their employees very well with yearly bonuses (when funded), many events with free food and other goods, and a positive and engaged culture. The pandemic definitely had some negative effect on Lumen's ability to continue engaging with employees in person, but I don't blame them for this. In fact, they have been very receptive to whether employees want to return to work or continue remotely. When I first started with Lumen, they had a comprehensive Ops Academy in which they taught us the ins and outs of Lumen's networks and they then placed us in different roles fitting our skillset and interests. Many of my fellow classmates in this course did not have a strong background in telecoms, so I applaud Lumen for building up their employees in this way and creating an avenue for more people to explore this career path. Also, Lumen is a large company with many positions to move into, which creates a wonderful path to learn different sides of the network and work your way up into higher positions.

Cons

My only complaint about Lumen has been some of the very outdated systems we dealt with. Some of the technology is quite old and slow. Throughout my time with Lumen I dealt with frequent crashes, glitches, and systems that would become very slow and laggy. I recognize that running such a large network creates a major difficulty in creating systems that can bear the load of so much information, but I would like to see more of a drive to improve these systems than I have.

How is the office food at Lumen?

Pros

Free tea and coffee Salary is OK Good bonus scheme

Cons

No respect for staff. No respect for mental wellbeing. 40 hour week. No more than 25 days holiday. Small teams shrunken due to reductions in force with a get more from less attitude and UK jobs counts typically go overseas. Constant stress from management. Constant intrusive scrutiny of work. No trust. Blame culture. No annual pay rises. Impossible performance targets weighed against workers. Health care scheme with a policy excess. Hot desking with poor quality equipment. Backward thinking such as a hate of work from home from a NETWORK COMPANY that should be actively promoting this model.

Does Lumen offer parental leave?

Pros

The pay was good, team was nice to work with, not overly hectic. I really enjoyed being able to work from home 100% of the time too.

Cons

The executives don't value things like flex time off, working from home, gender neutral paternity leave, etc, that other more progressive companies do. Those things are what draw really talented workers, especially now during a work revolution of sorts.

Advice to Management

Evaluate benefits like wfh and flex time off and you don't have to worry about paying people more.
