How are the career development opportunities at Madison Communications?
Pros
- Legacy - Used to have great brands, still owns some fairly well-known brands - Fairly positive name to have on the CV - Workplace so bad, that it sets a very low benchmark in terms of expectations - Teaches endurance to mental harassment and stress management - You learn everything not to do in the real professional world - Deals only with traditional medium (Print, TV & Radio) and is well known in the industry network
Cons
- No fixed timing which leads to absence of a work life balance. There may not exist a work life balance so to say. - Over commitment to clients without adequate infrastructure (which in time backfires) - False promises made to prospective applicants. The company has NO FIXED WORK HOURS, NO DIGITAL PLANNING, NO RESEARCH OR ANALYTICS, NO STRUCTURE AND NO HR POLICIES. Tall promises are made, but nothing is delivered. - No intellectual stimulation at work. Hiring is mostly of labor rather than talent. Peers and team mates will barely challenge you intellectually and you will often be able to manipulate them, if you are smart. - Probation and notice period are abnormally long which become a huge problem for Junior Level employees to get out of. Its a trap which serves as a roadblock if you want to progress in your career (which you will due to lack of Opportunities) - No HR in the Bangalore office which makes it an anarchist rule. Harassment is a strongly used tool to make people either obey or quit. - Even people with 8-12 years of experience are threatened to be replaced by 'multiple interns'. - Mismanagement in team structures. Bigger accounts may have a much smaller team, while smaller accounts may have a large team size. - High rate of attrition. A certain account saw 100% of the team quit in less than an year due to the work pressure and mismanagement. - People at senior level do entry level jobs due to lack of resources. - Lack of Sexual harassment and Workplace Ethics policies which lets people make any comments ranging from MISOGYNY to SUGGESTING SUICIDE. - No work place culture, hygiene or ethics. Lack of sanitation, safety and utilities. Most of the chairs are broken so be prepared for backaches and neck cramps. - Politics is the worst. Nobody cares about performances. No appraisals or increments. Increments are offered only to those who have put down papers as a last ditch to retain talent. - Regular yelling and hurling of abuses at workplace is a common occurrence making the workplace very toxic. - Work schedule involves working on weekends. (will not be disclosed when applying, but employees are called in on most weekends. Despite working late nights everyday) - Professionalism decreases as you move up the ladder. Scapegoating is a common practice. No matter how much efforts you put in, you will very easily be thrown under the bus if something goes wrong despite you having followed your senior's commands. Especially when the matter may be client facing.
Advice to Management
The organization is beyond redemption. There is no salvaging this sinking ship. The Bangalore office is on a downward spiral. And the irony is that the problem lies within but everyone wants to turn a blind eye to it. Bring in leaders, not dictators. Stop promising clients services you do not have and focus on strengthening the services that has kept you sailing for years. Understand the problem behind the alarming rate of attrition and why people are quitting. People are not quitting because of the company as much as they are because of the bosses. The lack of a good manager in the office will be the eventual reason of the company's demise.
Its a trap which serves as a roadblock if you want to progress in your career (which you will due to lack of Opportunities)

How are senior leaders perceived at Madison Communications?
Pros
There are absolutely no positives about working in this company except evening snacks which disappear once you have spent few years and company doesn't require to show its best face!
Cons
1. One of the worst company cultures that can exist in any organisation around the world. 2. Inacapable, talentless, low qualified & yes-man kind of people are hired by company head lead by Lara Balsara without any background checks. 3. Company has no respect for hardwork & retaining real talent. 4. One of the worst appraisal system 5. HR is completely controlled by company management headed by Lara Balsara and is a puppet. 6. There is no respect for senior posts of directors and junior executives and managers are appeased by certain top level mgmt of national or CEO cadre to become spies and revolt against mid mgmt due to fear of talent takeover.
Advice to Management
Till the time you keep hiring incapable people to your top posts with lowly qualifications & offer them higher salaries than mid & senior staff, you are completely doomed! It's high time you start respecting people for their hard work and time given for building your company and maintaining client relationships!!
