Does Merrill Lynch have a pension plan?

Pros

-licensing -potential The management does have meeting to try to control the ‘pain points’ of the job

Cons

-zero control of schedule -huge call volume along you zero time to breathe -management acts like overworking their employees is completely normal The problem is is this is a job where the pain points can’t be controlled. You’re for the most part not speaking to people that know anything about the stock market. Mostly older people trying to take advantage of their company match in their 401k. Trying to defend overly bureaucratic companies that take months to send pension paperwork, etc. It’s a rote, tiresome, and thankless job. The only way you can win here is by doing EXACTLY what they want you to do with an overenthusiastic attitude for about the max one year that it’s tolerable and then move to another department if enough people passed their exams after you. I would not do this job again if my life depended on it. If you’re the salesy type and can stomach an obvious transition job putting up with constant abuse from callers who know nothing about the stock market and take around 100 phone calls a day and have a great attitude about it go for it. I couldn’t do it.

Advice to Management

Management was fine, it’s not really their fault that the job just inherently sucks and you have to work harder than you should really have to because people can’t put in the work to pass their series 7. I eventually got fired over some silly excuse but I’m honestly not mad about it, I’m extremely happy and well compensated and less stressed in the job that I got after. But you really have to consider if you’re the type of person to deal with this job. Some people are, a lot of people are not. Good luck
