Does Metra offer parental leave?

Pros

-There are a lot of good initiatives going on here from Paid Parental leave to the Regional Commuter Passes. -We are about rollout something to honor retirees -Attitude are changing toward the Gallup survey. - Some people really love it here.

Cons

- The railroad is an industry with rich, deep rooted culture almost like policing or firefighting because families go into this work. -Which is also what is tough about it Metra, people got jobs here because of who they know. -It's hard to get rid of people with poor attitudes who felt back on this job when they wanted to do something else. - Many people are in unhappy arranged marriages with Metra. -Not a good place for dreamers/creatives. Better someone who wants something stable and predictable.

Advice to Management

-Take advantage of the free training opportunities, -If you become a better manager, you will become a better father/mother, husband/wife, son/daughter, etc. -Nothing should be done because that's the way it is always been done or how your manager was to you.

Does Metra offer dental insurance?

Pros

* Takes employee mental health and wellness seriously and provides many resources for help and/or leave. * Cares about employee opinions and takes action to improve quality of working environment * Compensation is good and on par with industry * Employee advancement in company is encouraged and valued * Diversity and inclusion is BIG and valued.

Cons

* Certain benefits aren't the greatest (Vision, Dental and Perks) * Work/Life balance could be improved. Some people can take advantage of work from home days/holidays/PTO/Vacation and some people are expected to be strict with work from home days.

Advice to Management

Be a little more lax on work from home days, especially during weeks that have holidays or when an employee takes off. Their 2 work from home days shouldn't have anything to do with holidays/PTO/vacation. Also, re-evaluate benefits and companies that provide benefits.
