What is the salary like at NetApp?

Pros

Good benefits, good work/life balance, fair pay

Cons

Top heavy management team that has been in place too long... they lack the desire to drive change and improve processes. No real management accountability for employee development, annual employee survey results. Our senior manager is so disengaged that he had not met an employee that reports up to him for 5 YEARS! Company lacks the ability to address cross functional disagreements. Escalation of issues is frowned upon. therefore strategic disagreements between Functions (sales and product) go unaddressed and unresolved fueled by passive/aggressive behavior. Managers act unprofessionally in personal interactions and business meetings (talk about/debate religious beliefs, use foul language, with employees and partners) and there is no coaching or repercussions for behaving in that manner Employees are expected to follow policies without applying critical thought to whether the policy should be applied. These policies are usually developed by management without engaging the front line employees who will be responsible for the implementation. As a result they rarely solve the problems they were "designed" to fix. Success metrics are unclear and/or unmeasurable due to lack of commitment to them. Opinions of the most senior individual "trumps" data, strategy, and priorities Statements by management are "valued" more than the questions the should be asking.

Advice to Management

You have abdicated your responsibilities to your employees by perpetuating a insular country club like atmosphere where Directors and above are not held responsible for there actions. "Do as I say not as I do", is the credo of management as evidenced by the lack of leading by example. Change and Improvement aren't possible b/c you wont engage your employees in developing solutions. Rather than conducting annual layoffs where front line employees are he majoirity of those RIF'd, you may want to consider including management whose teams are underperforming, as the lack of performance is likely correlated to poor management, and lack of leadership.

Does NetApp offer a weekly bonus?

Pros

Very people centric, with a great, inclusive, energetic environment. People are fun and hard working. Strong teaming atmosphere. Competitive salaries and bonuses. Very interested in individuals well being, especially during Covid.

Cons

Slow to no career growth opportunities. If you're looking to grow your career upward from within, it will take years, due to lack of openings or defined career paths. Company is trying to address this with lateral swapping opportunities, to provide learning and personal growth, but promotions are still few and far between.

Competitive salaries and bonuses.

Does NetApp offer a yearly bonus?

Pros

CEO has taken a stance to avoid layoffs.

Cons

Global hiring freeze. Likely minimal or no bonus or raise this year (better than getting laid off but pay cut due to inflation).

Advice to Management

The economic downturn won't last forever. There is no magical formula that will cause stock price to go up while the economy is down. However, you can create an environment that encourages your best employees to leave. Hint: Not paying bonus and/or pay increases encourages people to leave. When good people leave during a hiring freeze, things get much worse for the remaining people. Immediately redistribute wages paid to employees who left to the employees who remained. Do this and you will retain more people.

Likely minimal or no bonus or raise this year (better than getting laid off but pay cut due to inflation).
