How are the career development opportunities at Nintendo?

Pros

- Discount at store - Interesting industry - Interesting and fun internal events! - Lovely and kind co-workers - Head of NUK clearly cares about his staff

Cons

- Lack of organisation - Unrealistic workload - Manager received no management training and can't step up as a leader - Long life of leasing staff with very last minute contract extensions. - Some teams are clearly favoured over others. - Expected to work through lunch breaks and made to feel guilty if you do take one. - Expected to always work late because we "need to be flexible" ...though its rare they are flexible. - Lack of clarity of job role responsibilities. - Lack of caring for mental health - No career progression within the UK, most likely would have to move to Germany head office.

Advice to Management

- Make sure everyone who is managing permanent or temporary staff goes onto management training. - Listen to employees when expressing concerns and how things can be improved with your own management. Make them feel listened to and not attacked if you have a personal problem. - Give each team member a clear list of job role responsibilities and don't let them work it out amongst themselves as people end up double up or one two-person team ends up doing the work of 7 people. - Respect a work/life balance because there is ALWAYS something urgent and working until 8pm every night will result in burn out and unhappy staff.

No career progression within the UK, most likely would have to move to Germany head office.
