How are senior leaders perceived at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology?

Pros

Pay and vacation time are decent.

Cons

Nepotism, politics, favouritism, bullying and poor management . The CEO is a self serving egotistic narcissist that is grossly over paid. The culture is toxic and it starts at the top. There are sooo many middle managers. Some that oversee one person. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting one. Most of them have no experience or any leadership skills. If they ask you for input it better be what they want to hear as your opinion isn't what they are looking for. The Alberta government needs to stop providing this institution with funds until they clean house and refocus on students instead of buildings. Middle managers bully people until they leave. There is a high number of employees on sick leave due to the toxic culture.

Advice to Management

Replace the executive suite and cut middle management. Focus on the students not on providing space for industry. Employ fair and transparent human resource practices to rid the place of nepotism and favouritism. If you were really innovative you would consider all ideas seriously to come to the best way forward.
