Does Ocado Group offer employee discounts?

Pros

Free parking 15% discount as well as other discounts on sister company’s Finish early still get paid ( if you can get through the van wash in less than an hour! ) Free shares if you’ve been in long enough as well as health care after a year.

Cons

If you work a 10hr shift ( rota) you get sent to London or the city of London most days. Vans are always dirty and have defects. 900kg of shopping to deliver everyday with flats that have no lift being the ones who order mostly bottled water and you are expected to take it up. If you raise any issue with management they will just laugh it off and nothing will get done even if it’s a health and safety issue.

Advice to Management

A happy workforce is a productive workforce! Also if the workforce is happy that gets past to your customers! Management are glorified drivers who have done there time with the company and have little to no management experience or qualities between them.

Does Ocado Group offer life insurance?

Pros

You get life insurance, and the chance to go from there with anxiety issues and depression 😉

Cons

The management is not the best, you get treated like a piece of “cake” by some of them

Advice to Management

Try and get trained in how to talk to your people and not to exploit them at the maximum, remember we are all human, it doesn’t matter if some of us are wearing red or green, we’re all the same. Do you remember one of our values? “Value each person”...ohhh yeah it doesn’t exist anymore because at Ocado you don’t get appreciation for your hard work...only file notes and threatened that you’ll be investigated if you don’t do what they want!

How are promotions handled at Ocado Group?

Pros

Left to your own devices Working with beauty brands Lovely office at TOG, Victoria Nice people

Cons

Split time between head office at Welwyn Garden City - awful atmosphere / industrial area Management are over stretched so can't give individual support to anyone ... no progression / training / KPI's set Unsupportive with promotion. Huge turnover of staff Inexperienced members of staff given head roles No structure to the work - problems aren't resolved as no one with experience in head roles No budgets to improve visuals / editorial Ridiculous split of the team - made to work at Head Office two days a week and London for the remainder. The whole Fabled team doesn't work together which causes huge problems - but managers don't seem to realise that. Give new starters some encouragement / enthusiasm / variation rather than sit them at a desk 9-6.

Advice to Management

Support your individual staff when they apply for promotions rather than be happy to see them leave. I've never seen so much turnover of staff in a business. Manage your managers! Managers should have people skills and known how to encourage / support / progress their team. I saw my manager once every few weeks. Train them. Offer training / digital courses to progress the team. Every member of staff has had (and continues to have) problems on their first few days - lap tops are not provided / the instructions for induction aren't thorough / not told there are buses to get to separate locations at head office. This has occurred with every single person on the team. Appreciate your staff. Put people with experience in head roles.

Unsupportive with promotion.

What is the feeling of job security at Ocado Group?

Pros

- Good pay and you get a decent bonus if you meet your targets - Most of the people are nice including the managers (well, the ones who work in the warehouse so know how awful it is) - It is bearable for a couple of months as an interim job

Cons

- Long hours with minimal breaks - You’re expected to be a robot. At Ocado you’re not a person, you’re just a number. - The higher up managers (as in your manager’s manager) don’t care, you get treated as if you’re nothing - You’re discouraged from talking to colleagues

Advice to Management

Better breaks, be more understanding.
