What is the salary like at Ocado Technology?

Pros

I feel so luck I found Ocado Technology by chance. It is truly one of a kind place. The work is interesting and meaningful, the colleagues are nice and smart, the pressure is low, the work-life balance is good, and the pay is great. What else could I ask for?

Cons

I cannot see any, I truly love it

Advice to Management

What are other benefits and incentives like at Ocado Technology?

Pros

Interesting work with a massive scale - our work will impact the lives of millions of people globally. Great culture has kept me happy at Ocado for many years. Good benefits, my favourites are the sliding hours policy allowing me the flexibility to start any time before 10 and finish any time after 4 provided I do the contracted 8 hours of course, and the ability to have parcels delivered to work. The staff discount on groceries has saved thousands over the years. The share incentive schemes have also been very lucrative due to Ocado's performance on the stock market.

Cons

You might look at the head office location as a con - it's in Hatfield which is a short way out of London. For me though, the commute from London zone 3 out to Hatfield is much more pleasant than it would be going the other way.

Advice to Management

Yeah you're doing alright. Keep it up ;)

What are meetings like at Ocado Technology?

Pros

Nice place and very good office building, skillful and open-minded colleagues, payment is fine. No rush and no blame culture. Shared responsibility.

Cons

The 'value' culture was too much - awful experience. The learning curve is almost flattened. Too many meetings. Shared responsibility. For such a 'flashy' company payment is mediocre (I guess not for every position). The project I worked on was almost a 'dead horse'. Also low code quality.

Advice to Management

People should be more involved in technical decisions. Please lower the amount of meetings - less words more action. Very obviously there is some problem with team leaders, because nobody wants to be such.

Too many meetings.

Does Ocado Technology provide leads to sales teams?

Pros

Innovative company working with new technologies. A lot of opportunities to learn. Teams can choose their own technology stacks - not pressed by leaders and management. No pressure from leads or POs. Good salaries. Flat structure. Wonderful work-life balance. Flexibility to work from home. Possibility to change teams internally to learn new technologies and projects. Friendly environment.

Cons

Requirements can be unclear and there is no documentation, you rely on the company culture that people will help you with what you need to know. This happens, but can also be frustrating for a big company.

No pressure from leads or POs.
