What is health insurance like at Pegasystems?

Pros

After being approached and then interviewing with Pega I took a moment to research Pega's culture, leadership and products. Historical reviews had me on the backfoot. The interview process was through their internal recruitment team and they were honest, engaging, really detailed and highly professional (rarely the case based on my experience). It was great to have regular updates throughout right up to day one and they made my journey smooth and stress free. Day one to now has been wonderful. I made the right decision. I joined a number of new hires in a new employee induction day and i found all the leaders to be open and friendly to employees at all levels. The technical people appear to be really at the top of their game (nice to finally talk tech with people who get it). The business is truly flexible (not just a sales pitch unlike others). They have accommodated my family and needs and even their benefits like health insurance is a real winner for us. In fact Pega's benefits are the best I have found in my 20 year career. Loving watching our shares rise. The business is culturally diverse and has no borders globally. I'm glad that i didn't judge a book by its cover and trusted that my positive experience having been approached and throughout the interview process would matched the culture , professionalism and values of the business. It did and i joined at a very exciting time.

Cons

I'm known to find the negative in most things with some thought. If i had to find one i would say that it would be nice to hear more from your direct manager about what your first weeks will look like prior to commencing.

Advice to Management

If this is to wider management at Pega, keep it up. The small details done well from your employees that are your first interactions with anyone from Pega made all the difference.

They have accommodated my family and needs and even their benefits like health insurance is a real winner for us.

Does Pegasystems offer parental leave?

Pros

1) Good work-life balance 2) plenty of leaves 3) Flexible work timings 4) allowance given for purchasing chair and office set-up during covid-19 work from home( after rejecting bills for simple reasons multiple times). Actually its an eye wash as I mention further in cons. 5) Good insurance coverage 5L per family.10% copay for parents. Plus covid-19 coverage by go digit. Insurance coverage can be increased by paying extra premium. 6) Good life insurance coverage which is 3 times annual salary in case of death. 7) Paternity leave for a month 8) If you are female employee, along with maternity leave you can enjoy the benefits of child care reimbursements.

Cons

1) Managers lack people management and technical skills 2) HR promise to increase the pay a little if joined within a time frame and later say its not possible as management changed policies. Very cheap tricks played to attract the talent. 3) Lot of present employees are stuck in their careers/roles and management is bringing new employees for better pay and designation, creating parity and unhealthy team atmosphere. 4) Many resign and join back for a better package and role. This is bad example set by management. 5) Parking allowance is not given giving the covid-19 as reason, but food coupons that were given earlier are also stopped. So actually the office set up allowance is an eye-wash 6) Irrespective of the programming language you know, you have to learn pega tool and most of work is done in this tool. You would forget your core skills. 7) Lots of meetings in a day that affects individuals productivity. 8) Lots of incosistencies in salary or bonus payout and you have to keep on following up with payroll team to get it corrected. 9) If you do good work, management doesnt recognize your efforts and give promotion. On asking the reason for the delay in promotion, you will be told that you should have mentioned that you are expecting promotion earlier. This is very bad and management is not proactive in encouraging employees and instead blame them for not asking earlier. 10) No onsite opportunities. 11) Ineffective product owners who cant bring new clients but sit with dev team and argue over pointing of the stories. 12) Some of the US employees look down upon Indian employees.

Advice to Management

1) Please respect and promote existing employees who are working with lot of interest instead of putting red carpet to new employees.

7) Paternity leave for a month
