Does Pegasystems offer massages?

Pros

Decent pay, especially for tech-facing interns, free swag, good coffee machine

Cons

Tech bro culture, not a good/secure product when I worked there but they spend so much on marketing (PegaWorld) to make it seem like their product is viable. They spend most of the training/onboarding lecturing the interns on why Pega is superior to Salesforce and other company propaganda. Didn't learn too much during my internship there because they didn't have anything planned for me other than to complete their certification for their platform which isn't meaningful outside Pegasystems.

Does Pegasystems offer parental leave?

Pros

Depending on your team/manager, there are some great people at Pega. Majority of the managers I have had personally care about me and my mental health, encourage me to take PTO, and I feel very supported personally and professionally by them. 99% of the people are incredibly kind and genuinely helpful. I have never had someone treat me like I'm an idiot for asking a question, and folks are happy to jump on a call to talk something through with you. You will run campaigns for Fortune 500 companies and work alongside huge name partners, which is great experience and exposure. Comp for me seems competitive based on other similar roles I was interviewing for at the time. Benefits are good, on target with other tech companies including an impressive 5 months paid maternity leave. Overall at the individual contributor and mid level manager level, there are some amazingly talented, smart, and dedicated folks. At Pega you will work with talented teams and make good connections as we have hired a lot of people from other big tech companies in the last ~2 years. Good amount of diversity in the marketing team. There's a lot of potential here, but not sure the talent will stick around to see it through.

Cons

Marketing is burning through talent. There has been massive turnover with no address from management on retention. Teams are siloed and there is a major lack of leadership. There is no clear, concise strategy, KPIs, etc to ensure we are tracking to, and every time I ask it is "generate demand in target accounts". Of course we need to build pipe, but there is no path to get to a number. There is a broad company-level focus on retention, but for now it is all talk and I have yet to see any tactical work on it, and certainly nothing in marketing. People leaving is shrouded in secrecy and often you don't hear until they are already gone. There is absolutely no respect for anyone's time. We have been hiring fully remote workers for well over a year now, but everything is run in ET. I am consistently on calls with people in PT that are on calls at 5:30am. Your time is not respected - people of all levels are constantly late to meetings with no notice. Meetings are moved or cancelled at the last minute. Many meetings are redundant or pointless, and/or have no agenda which is imperative with so many new people joining constantly. This is the type of stuff that will burn out your staff quickly. We are bringing in great talent who quickly learn of convoluted processes and antiquated systems and now people that joined ~1 year ago are already leaving. It is extremely difficult to get anything done or have any impact and each project feels like it is one step forward, two steps back. Massive amount of secrecy around things that marketers need to do their jobs and should be trusted with. RSU package was competitive at start but stock price has slashed it in half. Marketing leadership is ok with the status quo that has not been working for years and does not want to hear feedback. It is understood you have to leave to be promoted, as there is no clear path or process to promotion. Diversity and inclusion is constantly touted but it is only white men in leadership positions, especially in sales.

Advice to Management

Listen. You hired people for their expertise, not to fit them into a broken system. Give people the tools to do their jobs - whether that is access to a system that will replace a manual process or data that they should have access to. Less talk and more action, especially on engagement and retention. Where are the tactical plans to get things done? Where is the leadership in marketing?

Benefits are good, on target with other tech companies including an impressive 5 months paid maternity leave.
