What are sales commissions like at SThree?
Pros
Fast paced, uncapped commission, and great training structure to learn the basics of being a great recruiter. Business casual dress, early leave on Fridays, and nice flexible working hours.
Cons
A lot of turnover at times, which creates ever-shifting leadership structure. As with any sales-type role, commission is purely based off of performance, so if you go awhile without making a deal the low base salary can be tough. But if you perform well, you are rewarded richly, and they are currently working on changing the base salary to be competitive.

What are meetings like at SThree?
Pros
None that I can think of
Cons
Too many meetings, ageism, strange office culture of cuddling
Advice to Management
Ageism is rife here, if you are experienced for a role then there are no opportunities to progress as these are aimed at the younger inexperienced staff, there are inexperience younger staff in more senior roles than those who are older and have much more experience. There are also a ludicrous amount of meetings at SThree, I would say that I had more meetings in my 2 and half years at SThree than I did in all of my other jobs put together, so much work time is lost because of these meetings, and there were also the unnecessary monthly Performance Review meetings, preparation for these alone took up so much time away from your work itself. There is also a very strange office culture between certain managers and staff of cuddling each other when something positive happens, I find this very uneasy and this is something one would not expect to see in an office environment. When I started at SThree, the visions laid out by the then CEO Gary Eldon made it seem like an exciting opportunity, but since he resigned the place went downhill rapidly.

What are working conditions like at SThree?
Pros
- nice open plan office space - good city centre location - some nice people within organisation
Cons
- extremely poor processes and procedures (migrated from London) - sky high attrition across several teams and within Finance in particular - senior managers in my team could be unapproachable and obnoxious at time and also treated you well if your 'face fits' otherwise your treated appallingly (these said managers were promoted - this kind of says it all really) - pay is on the lower banding compared to other companies and other benefits such as pension are statutory min (not entirely a surprise given the office is a shared service environment). It is also not a surprise to learn that the CEO and other senior managers can make their rather large salaries all over again in the form of bonuses - a clear disparity
Advice to Management
- treat all staff equal, get rid of toxic managers who are rude to staff unless they are their 'favourites, or at least don't promote them - address low pay & benefits package particularly when senior management cream very disproportionate salaries in comparison
