Does Spotify offer dental insurance?
Pros
Overall, the culture, senior leadership, and people (minus a few bad seeds) are great. It's a flat culture where leadership actively listens to employees needs and advice. The benefits are insane (free dental, health, vision, $300/mo food stipen, 6 mo parental leave, etc.) and the team I worked on had a good work life balance.
Cons
The company is growing at a rapid rate and reorgs are not uncommon. As a result there are overlapping roles and responsibilities. It's become more political over the years, which has led to land grabbing for work and responsibilities. This has slowed down and complicated workflows. I also didn't not like the development mantra of "drive your own development", which is exactly how it sounds. Spotify invest in every other aspect but doesn't dedicate enough in building effective people managers and grooming employees. Although I don't think there should be stringent rules on employees completing professional development courses, however I think that there management and HR should creating and encouraging more customized development plans. I think upward mobility is not standardized and slow depending on the team you are on.
