Does TEKsystems offer massages?

Pros

Great opportunity fresh out of college, friendly co-workers that make lasting friends, free coffee and sometimes food, flexible work hours, still have one work from home day although recent new hires were told they’d be guaranteed two

Cons

Management will promise you amazing opportunities for professional growth and upward promotions, but these are only awarded to those who play management’s pet. Management can provide negative reviews, scores, and even gossip if they do not like you or if you are labeled as an issue for speaking your mind, which also prevents movement. Will overwork you while underpaying you. Doesn’t take COL adjustments seriously, but will brag about how much money is being sunken into software. OVT not required, but will be held against you if you do not stay. Awful benefits for those who need decent medical coverage. Recent new hires were informed they’d be given two work from home days, which influenced their decision to take the job in some cases, only the have one suddenly taken away due to being, “Better Together”, when it reality it sounds like they only want more control. Overall an easy place to feel trapped.

Advice to Management

This review may not apply to all management as some people are good, but over 75% of my management had been shady and trash-talked associates to other leadership. Very unprofessional management. Great job to those managers actually trying to help and listening to their people.

Does TEKsystems offer dental insurance?

Pros

Recruiters helpful and will check in on you.

Cons

Medical coverage is high and taken out of weekly pay. They offer the basic coverage for well visits, but if you need x-rays or hospital coverage the High Deductible plan is the only option, which is expensive. Paid time off only 4 days per year and must be taken in increments of 4hrs, paid holidays only 6 days per year.

Does TEKsystems offer life insurance?

Pros

TEKsystems is a great way to get your foot into the door for sales or recruiting. They have an in depth training program that will teach you the ins and outs of recruiting. The onboarding process and organization will depend on who your lead/or Account Manager is. They will get you operating on a high level and you will be able to build on that skill set and continue to use it there or use your skill set at a different company. If you are social and like hanging out with your co-workers outside of work hours then you will enjoy the many happy hours and celebrations that they do. There are many different career avenues if you enjoy staffing and the sales environment. You can make a lot of money if you stay but given with the market currently you can get paid more and do less work somewhere else.

Cons

First and foremost company culture is toxic plain and simple. They have a hustle culture and you will get burned out. They reward and applaud people for working the weekends and holidays. One girl got a promotion and worked Christmas Eve to get there, no thanks! Happy hours are pretty much mandatory and if you do not want to go people will question why. Contractors contact you all hours of the day and have no respect for your time or life. You will not be paid if they are calling you outside of business hours. TEKsystems is operating on a very old business model. They do not have remote flexibility for anyone who has not hit a contest (sales goal). Depending on your office you will be mandated to be in the office 4-5 times a week. They also pay new comers like contractors. You are paid an hourly rate for 2-3 months until converted full time. There are also no benefits. You get the same insurance as the external contractors. There is no 401K matching or company provided life insurance. You get a base salary, PTO, and potential to make a lot of money. You will be HEAVILY micromanaged depending on the team that you are on. My team was micromanaged and had absolutely no autonomy. They were constantly keeping up with your schedule, allocation, when and why you were or were not in the office, etc. Also, the team I operated on had a few women who acted like high schoolers (gossiping at their desk for 10-15 minutes while you are trying to do your job. I guess this is why you are in the office for "collaboration"). They bad mouth anyone who leaves the company and anyone who does not fit in with their cookie cutter mold. You will be on a hamster wheel. This job has very few rewarding aspects to it and will be sold as "potential". Potential to make 6 figures and make a lot of money but it will take you years to get there. There are also a lot of uncontrollable things about this job. All of your commission is based on when your contractors (consultants) are working and if they quit then say good bye to the spread, if they are out sick say goodbye to that money, if they want a vacation say goodbye to that money. This is where the hamster wheel aspect comes in. You are constantly working hard to make commission and then constantly working to replace the commission you have falling off. Even the people that make a lot of money in the company are seldom happy, more money equals more stress. Account managers are unorganized as well. Account managers will want you to allocate to their poorly qualified reqs or reqs with hiring managers who want unicorns and do not want to pay the piper. You will spend your wheels all week just for them to close the job or change the requirements last minute. The pay is a joke for what you have to do. Plain and simple, the commission percentage is horrible and you will make the company hundreds of thousands of dollars and make maybe 60K that year. Relationships can be transactional. Your recruiter lead will make commission for every start you get. Even if they are not a good recruiter lead and you are self sufficient they will make money off of you since the company does not compensate them for being a recruiter lead and being a recruiter at the same time.

Advice to Management

Allow remote work. Just because you cannot see employees does not mean they are not working! Remote work is not something that needs to be earned. Especially in this market. People can just go get a remote job instead of trying to hit your sales goals for the year to earn 1 remote day. Purge bad employees even if they make a lot of money for the company. Put people in leadership positions that deserve it and not just because they show interest. Make them take leadership seminars and classes not just a stretch assignment. Stop micromanaging. There are too many meetings that are exhausting and pointless. Do not make people work through their lunch to do internal hiring initiatives. That is a separate position and should be compensated. Also, if you treated employees well then you would not have such high attrition. Have realistic goals to motivate your team. To say recruiters should get a start every week is just unrealistic. You could talk to a candidate Monday and they have a job offer on Wednesday.
