Pros

People are generally good people and helpful. The overall benefits package is pretty good.

Cons

Focus only on new talent, but once you are in you are basically forgotten about. Very old philosophy in how things are done. Have a hard time getting out of their own way to progress into modern processes / technology.

Pros

Flexibility, advancement and great management team.

Cons

The company is competitive and there is no pension. There is 401k matching though.

Advice to Management

More parental leave and vacation just added for newer employees.

Pay was pretty bad initially but they are getting better especially with newer engineers. Stop cutting corners by turning off charge numbers as early as possible.

Advice to Management

Stop focusing on charge numbers all the time. Allow engineers to spend the time to create quality products and improve the processes that are in place. It will pay dividends later. I came by so many tools or programs that were started but could not be maintained or come to full fruition due to charge numbers being switched off. I also experienced “droughts” where I was basically forced to use my vacation time.

Growth opportunities, hires/promotes from within, and multiple opportunities across all business sectors within Textron.

Health insurance is somewhat expensive.

Pros

This company really does value their employees and actively promotes a work life balance compared to other places where work/life are just words to make them sound better. Most of the people I've met and worked with have been great people. You do need to stick it out for a few years before you can start moving up and around within the company because they tend to hire a lot of "new to the workforce" employees in order to give them experience, which is great. but they tend to leave because they can get higher paying jobs elsewhere. It just like most companies in regards to management, some are good and some are bad. The benefits are on point for a government contractor.

Cons

The pay and raises could be a lot better. The mandatory 4/10 hour every other week sucks. There really aren't many opportunities to move to other positions within the company, so you are fairly limited to just "steps" up in title. Nothing ever changes. No opportunity for telework. No opportunity to move up from a hands on employee to management.

Advice to Management

Consider full time telework or hybrid schedules. Reward the employees that stick it out over the years instead of jumping ship for higher pay. Actually address grievances and give solutions, not just listen and go in one ear and out the other.
