Does Upwork offer massages?
Pros
They've built a great office and expanded it out to another floor in the building. The perks are great with free lunches, drinks and snack along with cell phone and gym reimbursements. I will give the leadership kudos in how they've handed Covid and the social unrest in 2020. They've gone out of their way to make sure employees feel safe and support in these difficult times.
Cons
There is one major problem that most of the other problems I see at the company stem from. The leadership critically overestimated the growth the company would see in the near future. They went into overdrive in hiring based on that belief. What happened from there is AEs were pushing hard to oversell to a market that wasn't there. AMs got accounts that didn't have the room to expand. All parts of the sales org had trouble meeting their goals and the pressure of failure spread throughout the company. That failure weighs on everyone and makes the job a heavy grind. Eventually it caught up with the company in forcing them to layoff a huge portion of the sales team. And let's talk about that leadership. There is a lack of a people-first leaders, particularly as you move up the ladder. Many of them were successful ICs, but I think they lack the innate ability to reach people that allows for them to successfully lead and coach them. There are some that are good people leaders, but there are more that aren't than are.
Advice to Management
Temper the ambition with growing smarter. Everyone holds the weight for the revenue expectations for the company, but the ones who will drive that success also happen to be the most "disposable". If you can't make the job work for your sales people, you need to rethink how you approach the market.

Does Upwork offer parental leave?
Pros
- Great benefits including remote-first organization, unlimited PTO, paid parental leave, etc. - Open communication and transparency from leadership - Lots of positivity on the future of the company
Cons
There's been a lot of change lately, which can feel quite unsettling at times. Sometimes it feels like we're at an early start-up, but luckily, there are leadership team members in place who navigate the change well. In addition, communication and collaboration between teams leaves a lot to be desired.

Does Upwork offer life insurance?
Pros
Unlimited PTO Coworkers are great Insurance is ok.
Cons
Management doesn't have themselves together, ever. The constant changes to processes because no one can sit down to take a month to actually get things together makes it even more difficult. The micro-managing is OVER THE TOP. Undefined roles for management is also an issue. Pay rate for the work is laughable.
Advice to Management
Hire people for management or people to replace the persons moving into management. Define processes across all departments.
Insurance is ok.

Does Upwork offer malpractice insurance?
Pros
Unlimited PTO and many holiday days off Reimbursement policy Insurance Can pick up some new skills
Cons
-Most of the Managers do not truly listen to issues and most lack empathy. You are NOT a good manager if you don’t have it. -The pay structure is unimpressive compared to other tech companies especially when you actually have true skills. -People don’t get paid what they deserve. Either too much or not enough. -Favoritism is a wild theme here. Leads to poor morale. I guess friends come first. -Getting lied straight to your face is disrespectful, especially regarding work feedback. -The turnover rate has gotten out of hand. That needs to be talked about seriously. -Seems like only the sales team is cared about, even though other teams keep things running as well. However, I’ve heard from many sales staff members regarding bad treatment.
Advice to Management
-Provide training for ALL people leaders. Or maybe just don’t make someone a people manager if they lack the skills. - Empathy training is amiss here. -Hire and promote people that actually can truly do the work. -Pay people what they deserve and be more transparent about it. We all have to live.
